My best man in my wedding is a work-a-holic who thinks work crafting some broken bone is more important than tracking his GTR. I am sure he is crying now.

He did an unofficial 1:24 @ Sandown. I am sure there are 3-4 second in that 400wkW GTR. Matt (Coleman) does 1.21 when he is doing 80%.

I will say if he can make it clean it will be a sub 30s in Winton...

And guess what ... he is running with Tein Flex.

So, what does Matt do when he drives an RX8 at 80%?

Would be good to have a benchmark time at Sandown in an RX8 driven by a pro driver even at 80%.

Matt did an 80% on my car when it was bone stock, and he gets 1.34. There you go.

Thats a serious time for Sandown. My FD has run a 1:27 at Sandown but I had to slow down going down the main straight because I was pinged for noise. The noise meter was half way along the straight so I just shifted into 5th and cruised past.

I have done 1:37 at Winton in the FD and 1:43 in the RX-8.

AASA Club Racing License...

I was just curious whether we could just print out the Application Form and bring it with us on the day. It would be soooo much easier if they could issue the AASA license on that day.

If not, what is the most painless route to go to? I'll get it ASAP.

If people already have a Cams Licence I dont see why they would need a AASA licence?

Question about:
NAME OF CLUB/ORGANISATION/PERSON

Who or what do we nominate in this field?
Who's going to sign as "Person who is personally known to ASSA"?

I guess we better get the paper work sorted out long before we get towards March 20.

A cams license is an allowable equivelant license (actually higher).

The asaa is based at Winton so I guess you could sort it on the day, but make sure you have your paperwork all ready on the day.

I will am the "NAME OF CLUB/ORGANISATION/PERSON" and I will be the "Person who is personally known to AASA"?

Not sure if I mentioned it before but you will all be required to sign an Indemnity before you go on track. They are VERY particular about this and give out and exact number of copies and expect an exact number back.

Great!!! We can start counting the days till March 20. I'll make sure I'll have plenty of Application Forms printed out and just leave it in the car for safe keeping.

Andrew, excuse my ignorance but for clarity, can i confirm that it is definately going to be acceptable to obtain a AASA license on the day (and be able to make payment) provided the paperwork is in order and that the nominator will be YOURSELF?

Yes You will be able to apply and pay for an AASA license on the day. But you will not be able to apply for a CAMS license, you canonly use an existing one.

And yes the nominator is myself.

Cheers

OK just submitted all the paperwork to Winton for scruitinising. Cost for the day will be $340 (including photographer). Soon as the paper work is approved I will be requesting full payment as I have to have it paid by 20th Feb.

winton

Hi Andrew I just returned from the Phillip Island Historic Race meeting and bumped into the people who look after Winton raceway and mentioned our outing next month, the lady even remembered Andrew Harris as the organiser without prompting, you must have been spending far too much time on the telephone

The weekend was fantastic, I have a friend in the mini car club and they provide track marshalls, timing organisation etc for the historic racing register. So I had fun with cars from the 20's to the 80's marshalling them off the track and through the pits for 3 days. Porsche museum sent over 6 cars from germany all silver and magnificently restored, Peter Brock drove an A9X in anger again, John Bowe in a LeMans Porsche screaming around the track at unbelievable speeds, a 50's Indy car with a huge Offenhauser 4 cylinder engine sounded the best crackling with a deep throaty roar down the main straight followed by a magnificently maintained 50's era Albert Park Grand Prix hay bale special Maserati (sex on wheels).
Then there were the pre war cars hooning around with their unique designs and skinny tyres, the 70's LC Torana XU1's racing door handle to door handle with Bob Janes 60's Jaguar both trying to outgun a couple of Mustangs.
The best part was being able to not only go around the pits but right into the garages and talk to the drivers and mechanics about their cars which they are passionate about.
Rant over I'll let you all know next year whenit is on and organise a cruise down with a display of RX8's. About 30 other car groups had display areas from Ford gt40 replicas to Citroen Goddess lovers for spectators to enjoy.
There were over 450 competitor cars and easily 20,000 spectators , international drivers from america and UK, all around a great weekend and by the way I never liked that previous bank of yours anyway , way too slow in funds transfer

Yes, but I am waiting on Heather from Winton to finish off the paperwork. She is really snowed under at the moment. But never fear.
