RX8 GT in WHO '08 ...
The updated RX8 GT is one of the cars included in the 2008 Wheels Handling Olympics (featured in the latest Wheels mag). They put the cars through accelaration, braking, cornering, slalom, grips, and laptime exercises so it's not a bad read with a good collection of data.
They clocked the RX8 7.19sec to 100kph and in 36.83m in a stop from 100kph. Out of 13 cars it came 6th in the slalom, and 9th in terms of laptime (ie. a very short figure 8 course).
The figure-8 times (for the RX8 and the other cars) were ...
- 997 GT2 (sticky tyres) = 34.92sec
- e90 M3 = 36.00sec
- EVO X (sticky tyres) = 36.44sec
- STi (sticky tyres) = 36.59sec
- HSV GTS = 36.79sec
- SLK55 AMG = 36.82sec
- Elise SC = 37.07sec
- 135i = 37.42sec
- RX8 GT = 37.54sec
- FPV F6 = 37.56sec
- XR6-T = 37.65sec
- Clio 197 = 38.28sec
- Civic Type-R = 38.38sec

For people who feel sad about the result, let me tell you RX-8 has lost most of its points on the V max down the straight, acceleration 0-100 (why they include that for handling Olympics beats me ); while at the corners speed the RX-8 is up there with the most expensive models listed.
I think David you should scan the final result table.

I didn't think the car did badly at all. In top 7 it terms of corner speeds, and only a small fraction behing the 135i in terms of laptimes despite the 135i having 2x the torque and 1/3 more power.

135 has no LSD, but I want one . It has 1/3 more power alright? More! it is like 1/2 more stock - 180kW atw stock, 240kW atw with map, catless downpipe and bigger intercooler. Done locally in Melbourne. Parts are imported.
No turbo lag still. Amazing.
My mates in a 135 coupe do a 1:28.9 @ Sandown in a stock car. 1:26.4 with suspension and power mod. Still on run flat tyres.
Me want a vert though - looks cool
