Project Gotham Racing 2

I picked up Project Gotham Racing 2 for the xbox the
other day. It is probably the best car racing game on
any console at the moment.

You might have seen the ads on the idiot box, but
one of the feature cities is Sydney, and one of the
cars you can drive is the RX8.

So if you ever wanted to do 160 kph down Cumberland street,
or go four wheel sliding in the 8 around the Harbour View Hotel, this is the game for you.

The suprising thing was how close they got the exhaust note, and how well they did the revving and responsiveness. If you compare it to a different car in the same series, like the Integra or the M3, you can see the ways the car behave. Pretty acurate, even if they did rate the RX8 down on the M3 in terms of handling and braking.

Not when I took my 8 to Sydney. It was during the world cup. The quickest I got was about 110 coming out of North Sydney towards the bridge. And I think I averaged about 5 kph heading down William st one morning ...

There is actually a car I enjoy driving more in PGR 2, the Morgan Aero 8. Brutal accerlation, and always sideways through a corner, no matter how much you try and behave yourself.

Have they realistically simulated the wood chasis?

No, but when you hit a wall the number plate comes flying off and you smash the window.

Number plates in this game are stuck on using Blu-Tac, but it is a fair trade off, because the cars themselves can take any amount of damage, leaving driver and car essentially intact.

PGR2 is a great game, graphic and engine soundwise.
btw, does anybody know if RX-8 is featured in any other xbox games? I think the latest driving game I have is PGR2 and Racing Evolution R (ntsc) but I really want to find games that feature RX-8 in some realistic ways.. is it featured on SegaGT online??

Re: Project Gotham Racing 2

Don't play Gran Turismo then.

It will make all car games look like pole position (80')

Including PGR2

My 0.02c worth

Also you can get the RX-8 LM Race Car with a Turbo Renesis :D
