'Mazda Drive Day' - Melbourne
Hi,
I was wondering has anyone attended the 'Mazda Drive Day'? (offered with the purchase of a new RX8, MX5, MPS 6, SP23 and probably the MPS 3)
I'm currently contemplating whether it is worth my time attending this, considering it will take up a whole work day. And the only available date is in Broadford (which is not too close to me, would have been good to get a date at Sandown).
Can anyone comment on their experience with the Drive Day training course? And what type of things they went through on the day?
Thanks!

If you've never done an advanced driving course of any sort, then I strongly recommend you go.
If (like me) you've done quite a few, then I'd give it a miss (like I did). The course they offer is a basic one, but even experienced drivers of 20 years will pick up something if they've never done something like it before.
Your call.
Cheers,
Gomez.

I have to agree with Gomez on this one. However I am going to do one in October here in SA. I reckon it's good way of finding out just how good your car really is. You can push it to the limits in a safe environment and then find out when the car will say no.
It's also a good idea to freshen up your driving as we all get a little lazy over time.
I have learnt a lot over the years, the company I work for make us do Advanced Driver Training every year. One track day one year and the next year they send a guy out with us on the road. I had great fun last year, drove a V8 SS and had the instructor yelling at me! Lucky they can't sack me for my driving!!
All fun aside, this course could save your life and if you don't take it think about sending your wife or significant other...that could be an option if they drive the car too. Unfortunately for the WD he never gets to get into mine to drive it. He even goes to the length of pushing it out of the garage rather than starting it!
Welcome to the crew hope you enjoy your car and this site. There is so much to learn...so many piccies and so many like minded individuals!
