Just a quick question. Is there a function on this forum to enable an email to be sent to you if a post is made on a thread you have posted in? The .com.au site has it and so do other car forums I use. Am I just blind?

You can subscribe to thread... and ask for notification as individual email. That will give you an email update for subscribed thread. You can get a lot of email like me (100+ each day) by checking the forum daily, not even need to reply all threads.

In User CP you can check the function in which the thread you reply automatically go into notification mode.

Or you can subscribe the thread manually on the bar above (thread tool)

I was going to start a thread on the Top Gear Live show, which I saw yesterday, to see what other attendees thought but to be honest my heart's not in it with this terrible bushfire tragedy...car stuff seems terribly irrelevant in such circumstances...

Like Zoom said, the more we ship, the less we have of the **** to worry about. Now, if you after a really nice export, you could always go the Bundy Rum.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Ps - Nice 'Stang BTW!

I get on average.....7.1lts/km and i cane it regularly!!

Hope you are all well.
Wow - that is VERY THIRSTY. You obviously cane it! I'd only get 60 / 7.1 = 8.4 kilomteres out of a tank if mine did that.

Surely you mean 7.1 L/100km??

Cheers,

Had a GREAT last Few DAYS!!!

Yesterday I was driving my 8 on the Lonsdale Freeway, doing around 105KMP (in a 100 Zone), OK, There is a BIG Dipper and I notice at the bottom a large piece of what I thought was cardboard, it measures about a metre square.

I was in the fast lane with cars to the left of me, I though, ONLY cardboard I will drive over it!.....

Yeah right, the closer I got I realised it was a Solid Wooden Slat Board!, no time to brake, so I quickly drove with only the two Left Hand tyres going over the board.....brace myself, BANG, Bang!!

Kept going and waited for a flat, seemed OK, got home 10 minutes later and noticed no damage...., Until I looked at the side rear Bumper, there was a gouge about half an inch long into the black plastic bumper..

So, out came the touch up paint....my first real mark!!!

THEN TODAY, coming home yet again only 1 minute from home, I took a different route and I wanted to give her the Daily Buzzer clean out, missed out on my usual location.

Took her up to 8500RPM, all was fine, slowed down straight away, next thing I notice a Cop Bike behind me with flashing light...WHO ME!

Pulled over, the usual, Any reason for your speed, I told him the truth, he said my son (28yo) is a rotor head and has been in trouble with speeding...OH Really!!

Out comes the Pad, and Laser Gun, 86KM in a 60KMH Zone (was a 70KHM), $310.00 plus loss of 3 demerit points!..

GREAT., I tried it on to see if he would lower the limit, he said it would make no difference, Yeah right...If I had been going 4 KM more It would have been a $510.00 Fine.

WHAT NEXT!

I would have been up him for not keeping the road safe. Go back and take pictures of the piece of wood on the road and tell him he is neglecting his duty. Imagine him on his bike running over that! FFS!

MMmm, it;s the Dollars that suck!, I can do a lot more with $300 bucks than give it to the Gov...Gee they are RED Hot over here with speed/laser cameras, redlight and speed cameras, I think I also got done, doing 67 in a 60 through a red light and speed camera intersection on the same day!..

So with in 4 months I will almost lose my license!, if I don't get done with the redlight one I will have 6 points left. If I do 4 left...

In many years of driving a ****-box Toyota Corona (was a good car ), I never had one fine!

I thought disobeying signs/lights was a 3 point offence!

In any case, sounds like (a) you should exercise more caution when driving on the road and (b) leave the lead foot for the track, otherwise pay the penalty.

YES SIR!

IN South Australia, the demerit point system may be different to Victoria.

Here you start with 12 points over a 3 year period.

1 Point loss for over 5 (approx) and under 25K of the posted speed limit.
3 points for over 25K
4 points for over 40K, Auto loss of license (speed Dangerous charge, appear in court).

If you lose all your points you can apply/go to Magistrates Court to get some back, then you are on a probationary period, I think it is 90 days, and you get 3 points back.

After a clean 3 year period you get all your points back..

BTW, for the last 2 years or so our Default Speed Limit is now 50KMH (was 60), so if you don't know the speed in the suburbs...it is 50 KMH ,unless you see a sign stating otherwise.

In an RX-8 50 KMH or 30 MPH feels VERY SLOW and is!

porsche making SUV`s was a bit of a surprise , hang on though,... they`re making sedans now !
"wonder what theyve got planned to go up against the mini ? " :P
it might be selfish of me, but in my perfect world, they`d just focus on engineering the best sports cars, and it means competing against mercedes now,.... spreading those R&D dollars thinner,....
..they do look pretty great tho

Well the Cayenne was so profitable they had extra cash to accelerate their plans for direct injection and PDK for the 911 refresh, so I say make whatever you guys like providing the profits go into R&D for the cars people with taste will buy.

In other words, thank the arriviste ******* who buy Cayennes because those ugly lumps make the 911 a better sports car...

I renewed my CAMS license (as in sent in the form) back in August 2008, and since there have been no news, I just thought they rejected my renewal application.

Today, 30th April 2009, I received my renewal, with expiry date 30 Sep 2009. WTF??? Does it take them that long to renew???
