it could be a possible replacement for the honda.
As to here and now, and if you don't like the new Honda Civic hybrid then you're left with the Prius. There's quite a few sites now devoted to 'hacking' the Prius (sorry, modding is not the lingo with that set ) but it's still very early days

the replacement for honda will be something similar to that size or abit smaller. may look into VW Golf DTi...

Ezzy,
If you're looking at paying $40grand and want something cheap to run, why not an MX5? Polo GTI? Something like that.

But they ARE old Daewoo's now. The Opel made Barina was too pricey, so Holden is now selling 3yo Daewoo's and calling them the new Barina. Imagine if Mazda released a Hyundai Tiburon and called it the new RX8!

Civic Hybrid - $31,990 list, 1.3l 85kw, 170Nm, 1265kgs (hang on tight ). 4.61/100kms is pretty sobering though.

Too sober for me.

I'd get the Polo GTi. Looks like a fun little runabout.

Not sure about the economy of those things though.

I've also heard that new Swift isn't a bad little thing.

Hang on, how can you go past the Proton Savvy?

its not for me personally. the honda has been the "****" (excuse the language) for the entire family. everyone gets a go at it, gets parked outside, rarely washed etc.... mum and sis drives it too, so has to be safe and comfy.... and after the good friday eposide, the new replacement must have..
1. half decent safety features (airbags galore, ABS etc)
2. automatic
3. power everything
4. 4 door/5 door hatch
5. good size boot
6. doesnt really have to be an euro

will have to wait till next week and get the final result from the insurance company. they have indicated that it will most likely to be a total loss. if thats the case, i will be flying back to sydney more often, so i can take mum and sis for car shopping.

Why not just buy a Corolla or Mazda 3 then?

Both are pretty reliable, easy to drive cars that will do all the things you want and have decent resale (comparatively speaking).

My net door neighbour has a Prius....it has a million storage spaces....if that's your sort a thing.....I said to her that her car cancels out mine..in relation to damage to the ozone....I have also planted 3 trees.....

Apparently if you buy a Honda Hybrid they plant a **** load of trees for you as well...you can even pay each year for them to continue planting trees on your behalf....where do they plant them??

BTW apparently fuel has only increased 75% compared to milk which has increased 375%!! Even so I am getting a teenzy bit worried....

HA! that should cancel out the 3000 odd pine trees they are cutting down around my area. I read in the local rag that they were planted in the 1930's as part of a school "initiative" to help the environment, but because they are considered a noxious weed they are now cutting them down. No mention of replacing them.
