Letter published in Motor Mag.
Well here's a link to a picture of the letter if you are interested- https://www.rx8club.com.au/forum/vie...p=37520#p37520
I'm not surprised they made that letter of the month Matt. They love a cheer squad at Motor...good for you. What did they give you? (I remember waiting forever when Wheels had to send me a prize)...
I have won a prize but I am not sure exactly what it is and haven't heard from them. It is either 4 pairs of these funny looking Julius Marlow shoes that they advertised as the prize last month or what I would prefer to win, which is the new Navman which is what they advertise as this months prize?? I hope it isn't the shoes. If it is (strange boat shoe things) I think I will have to hand them off to my friend to wear in his Dodge Nitro..A navman woould be handy though..
Most writers just don't seem to GET the RX-8....
There is still NOTHING to touch it, there are very few cars made in the last 60 years that tick just about ALL the boxes..like the RX-8 does, sure it is not perfect...no car is, but this car commands respect and gives it's owners back rewards time and time again.
Again I say this car is an engineering masterpiece, even at the high price we pay for imported cars here in Australia.
Then you get Motor Writers like Paul Pottinger from CarsGuide, who "Cant see the Point" now of the Series II RX-8...but he could with the Series I???...

I have a mate who has just suddenly lost his partner, who happen to be quite wealthy, daddy was one of Adelaide oldest and most successful Stock brokers.
She had owned many new BMW's, her final was a new 3 Series that is about to turn 4, as he said it is one of the worst made model BMW's they have every owned it has literally fallen to pieces, gearbox has had it, engine consumes lots of oil, dashboard falling apart, shock absorbers leaking, air cond won't work, brakes replaced 3 times, noisy diff, rear muffler replaced, plus countless other things, and it has done only 42,000KMS!..
But they continue to buy BMW's...

No worries..
Well done Motor, You've nailed it again with the Extreme tuners shootout. You are recognizing a significant industry and one that was shunned by a majority of the car scene until recently. Modifying used to be seen as childish and a waste of time and now with articles like yours people can start to see that tuning a car can both invidualise your pride and joy and make it punch way above it's weight. Tuning a car is not just for those of us that can't afford expensive cars, but can help make you smile when you leave cars that cost twice as much as your car for dead. That is satisfying, knowing that your dollars have been spent more wisely. Well done Motor, keep it up. GO THE ROTARY!
