Has anyone noticed...

Hey All,

We've noticed on all 3 RX-8's ( the demo, the other car we got shown and our car which is sitting at the dealership waiting for us to sell our other car) that on the brushed aluminium rotor inlays in the seat headrest there is a curved scratch next to each of the three bolts, And there is a matching scratch on each bolt??

Apparently they are so that they don't over tension the bolts when the inlays are installed. Mercedes have a dot system for the same thing.. much neater than a scratch..

It's pretty **** if you ask me.. your car comes pre scratched ...

We are going to refuse delivery of the car until such time as they fix it. Needless to say they are falling over backwards to find a solution for us..

my g/f told the sales guy yesterday that if there was the slightest thing wrong with the car, they'd be supplying another vehicle. His face was a picture D

What can I say, she's a perfectionist and for 62 K she expects perfection, Fair enough I reckon.

Cheers

Rowdy

I support her desires to get what you pay for although, I must say you better be careful or you'll be out the door too!!

My car is locked away and I'm about to do some Z's, so I'll look tomorrow. On the other hand, perhaps my Poverty Pack only has plastiminium inserts.

But I am intruiged as to how this works.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Mine has the little scratch like marks on both seats but to be honest, you have to look really closely to notice.

Good luck in getting them to do anything about it

but there no point dying wondering so ask away!!

Ahh, but I don't cost money, I bring my own most of the time!! ...and she was well aware of my imperfections before she took me on.. D

It was the 1st thing she noticed when she got in... literally... so it is obvious to those with an eye for detail...

there are other cars out there that we could buy, & if mazda isn't interested in product quality we'll buy something else, and they are aware that we will be looking elsewhere..

Geez, my girlfriend is also a perfectionist with 20/20 vision and not even she picked it up. My eyesight is not the best and it took me 5 minutes to find it. I guess as soon as you drive it out the dealer door you pick up scratches bigger than this in no time so I am not too bothered about it.

I saw it and knew about it. I thought it is part of "art". Do you realise the bolt was scratch to the corresonding side of the bolt - e.g. top one is scratch upward from the upper part of the bolt, likewise for the left and right side... if you know what I mean.

I thought it is a "design" silly me ;+
