yeah, it surely makes it more effective, but in case of heavy rain the filter might get wet and ....
Dont see any other reason why have it onm just the water

Bewareful when you bare the intake to open air.
There is the typhoon model that I tested in HK. It was only a 28 degree day and the sCANalyser show the intake temp is 58 degree.
Hot air intake!

That would be the Type I typhoon intake.
That one caused quite a few problems with the rx8.

Find a method to take the intake temp.... that will sort it out once and for all.
With my stock set up, plus a RAM tube to the outside. I can bring the intake temp just 1-2 degree above the ambient.
