Also have a intake form Greddy. I customized it for a bit and it sound great with the exhaust. I always have a very positive feedback from others on the track regarding the noise i make :boink: :p:

DrewMan 03-06-2007 09:50 PM

i have the k&n intake type 2 and its quite noisy >6000

What intake from greddy?

is it the one that goes to the front like the AEM and Mazdaspeed?

i always thought it was just some piping that was bent by someone and they chucked an airnix greddy air filter on the end and charged about $400 for it.

My intake was $200 from the greatest shopping centre in the world (eBay)!

haha, i only used half of the piping, i got it from the intake straight to the front, the filter sits right next to the number plate, at the front of the radiator, probably the best place to find some cold air ...

DrewMan 03-07-2007 09:16 AM

Its just like the AEM intake then.

They didnt rate too well and actually showed a decrease in performance?

Not sure about the technical details on this one...

Well, i would say that intake system isnt a 'bg piece of technology". In my opinion it should be able to get the coolest and the biggest amount of clean air into the intake. I have no idea if the filter is gut or not, but it is at least at the right place and it has a big diameter pipe in the shortest lenght possible to get the air in. The filter might not be as gut as K&N filters or might be 100 times better :dunno:

an open air filter at the factory airbox area wont do you much good.
a direct cold air feed from front of the car will improve the air flow. air intake from behind the front grille works well (a small top section of the black grille is actually blocked  )

What do u reckon??

takahashi 03-07-2007 07:17 PM

Why is it pointing down.... does it only intake from one side??? There is no logic of airflow there I think :dunno:

Hey should we have a different thread about this intake???

MissyK 03-07-2007 07:30 PM

gyzmoo i think u need racing beat radiator grill lol
i see some stone damage on the radiator ;)

gyzmoo 03-07-2007 08:32 PM

wow, someone made a new thread about my intake ...
hmm

gyzmoo 03-07-2007 08:39 PM

So u reckon the filter should be facing front?? Than what is the blue cover for?? :dunno:
in my opinion it is in the right position, but i might be wrong. :uhh:

takahashi 03-07-2007 08:51 PM

blue cover is the filter element?? :dunno:

Just the piping goes 90 degree.... I suppose air will be sucked in??

I'm yet to be convinced there's any gains to be made by aftermarket intakes on NA cars. They sound better (if that's your thing) but I doubt they add much in terms of power.

Has anyone got access to reliable back to back dyno testing?

Just buy some fly screen wire and zip ties from bunnings to stop the stone chips and insects from doing any more damage.

$7 and youre set!!

intake is just a tad more noise
i dont believe for a second they give u power gains with N/A aswell, especially the renesis.

dont care if some ppl on here will claim their car got extra 5-10kw with intake.

if it was so easy to get power gains i rekon workshops should shut down right now!

the fly screen looks "loosely" fitted.... good concept, but need more supports on the edges to give it more strength to protect the radiatior.
its fun doing these type of things if you know what you are doing... my CAI costed about $25 (not inc. the K&N pod filter) :cwm27:
