i was about to put my shifter in today as I have 730 mi on it. But I took it to the dyno and now I want to run it over a cliff. 156 HP.
I want to take it back to Mazda and shove up their ***. Give them a $30,000 Hemeroid.
i wish the car had been here when Hymee was so he could have given his opinion.
I sure hope it's just a reflash because I'm the one owner they can't afford to have pissed off. Because by nature of my buisness this car will be on the dyno lots. The dyno is only a few yards down the street and I get a discount. In fact it's halfway between work and home. No problem stoping off for a run.
I'm telling everyone I can about it because I'm fuming out my ears.
As soon as I can get my scaner hooked up I'll post the sheet.

I doubt there could be that much difference. I've built way to many engines and owned my own dyno for a lot of years. You get a feel for what is break in and not.
In fact I had a Superflow engine dyno for about 12 years, it was my favorite toy.

I'd belive the low horsepower.
down a main straight on the track the my rx-8 with mazda's claimed 177kW can't gain ground on a std WRX that weighs more (around 160kW @ 1470kg ?) or a s15 200sx with less power & similar weight.

Is there much variation on cars?! Like different RX-8s.
RP which gear you like to dyno in?
I have 125kW(170ps) @ wheel in 3rd gear and 131kW (178ps) in 4th. Is that just luck or the gear has something to do with it.

I've got some plots from my MR-Dyno if we want to compare.
I normally would do a 2nd gear run starting logging at 40km/hr all the way to redline, which is about 105km / hour. That kept the speeds reasonable.
5th gear on the Dyno would be a little fast for some operators to feel comfortable with. Even 4th would be pusing it I think.

Hymee, I'm generally not into the after-market but this time you've got me hooked. I therefore commend myself to your tender mercies for a short-shifter. Let me know where to deposit the loot and my hard-earned will be on it way forthwith.
Cheers

Sorry Gomez, saved myself your airfare to the states and did it myself.
No breakie tabie!!!! :D :D
I just used a very small screwdriver between the black trim and the other black trim while pushing the tab with my finger. Poped right out in no time wasted. Whole thing took 15 min. Took the white wire holders off by inserting thin electronics style needlenose pliers and speading them out wards. Thus holding the grip surface away from the stud.
I have a thought on this. How about machining a little tube with the id of the stud, thin wall and a champher on one end. Press onto stud and lift plastic thingie off. I might consider making a bunch of these and putting one in the kit. I'm going to try it and see if it works.
