Those who have registered interest in the RX8 Nationals with their respective state coordinators will shortly be receiving a broadcast email (not a PM) dealing with the subject of registration fees, etc. Responses to that email are required by 26 August.
If you have not yet registered interest and wish to receive this email, please PM your email address to your state coordinator now.
If you have previously registered interest and have not received the broadcast email by tomorrow, please ask your state coordinator to send it to you (and provide your email address).
Coordinators are as follows:
QLD - xxup
Vic - takahashi
NSW - Revolver
ACT - Timbo
Other states - any of the above will respond.
There will be a limit on the number of cars accepted.

guys, I have a question. can your travel buddy ($100 paying members) get in the car during track sessions? i.e. join in for ride but not drive.
I have a friend who wants to come along but doesn't want to watch cars go around all day by trackside.
I understand that he will need to hire helmets etc.

No! We're pretty concerned about this, because of the potential liability issues....and so should all drivers
The only exception is instructors, whom Wakefield permits for driver training purposes only, and where one of these instructor drivers is providing a properly licenced (ie, Wakefield licence, or CAMS level 2) driver a demonstration (but not high speed joy ride)

taka and MACCAA are the track marshalls, so their rules rule, ok?
It may be the case that a demonstration ride with an instructor in some of the special cars we're hoping to get there might be possible -- not high speed or anything, but we need to check this out (or...thinking out loud...maybe those happen on a public road subject to normal road rules, to ensure normal 3rd party personal insurance applies).
In any case, you can see the issue we face: No-one wants the potential liability of personal injury where there is not proper insurance coverage...

Well don't say that Timbo.
I am trying convey some common sense. I don't think it is in the common practice that track day allows one driver sitting in the other's car and see how he drives.
I can assure you that you will make 2x much error when you have a passenger, unless the professional passenger - ie instructors.
That is why instructor is there for!
It is also in line with the Wakefield rules I think... I have to check with Len (MACCAA) for that.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to confirm whether or not you wish to attend the Nats.
Thus far we have only 8 confirmations and 1 no from the NSW contingent. Since I sent about 28 broadcast emails out, that means that about 20 of you need to extract your digits and tell me what you're doing.
This might help - Victoria has more than us so far. Please don't shame me in front of Taka - it's unbearable.

You also have the advantage that most people will do anything to get out of Melbourne - even if its only for a little while! :p :p :p
As for the mob thing - who do you think you are? Warney? :D

Ok people, the day is not yet done, but we can now announce we have 38 entrant cars confirmed for the Nats. :D
We do have to limit numbers, and we're thinking that number is around 40, so if you are procrastinating, now is the time to make a decision or you will miss out :o

Yes, we'll have a waiting list for excess numbers.
...we also have at least 4 developed RX-8's attending, so if you're wondering what type of FI, handling mods, wheels/tyres etc, here's THE chance to taste and compare....
It looks like we'll have six excellent instructors, who'll help you get to know this car better
....and other surprises awaiting confirmation
