brake repair work - dealer or elsewhere?

I'm putting the car in for a scheduled service on Thursday, and I've asked the Mazda dealership to look at my brakes - since they are pretty badly pulsating at the moment. I guess I have a warped rotor or uneven brake pads.

I'm a bit wary of the price that the dealer will charge for remachining / replacing the disk/rotor etc.

So, what do you think? If they ring me up and say that "x disks need remachining" or "you need to replace the two rear rotors" blah blah, what should I do? Get Mazda to do the work and possibly charge me a massive premium, or should I go somewhere else like a specialist brake and suspension place?

Or am I being paranoid? Would the Mazda dealer actually do the work for a decent price? I'm assuming brakes are not warranty work after having processed over 40,000 kays.

I had similar issues... here's what they did for me.
1. machine rotors.. said it was covered under warranty
2000ks later, it started happening again, rang them up and they said bring it in.

2. they replaced both front rotors under warranty and sent me on my merry way.

btw... this was at 30,000km service

Cheers,
LJ

Which dealer? Just in case they give me grief?

Apart from that, in case I can't get it done under warranty, what would be the approximate cost for machining rotors ?

I had both front rotors replaced under warranty, and got my brake pads replaced (which I had to pay for) at the same time, since they were quite low and the mazda service manager said that I might as well, since the labour would be free.

With the fuel injector system cleanout and the new brake pads, a pretty expensive 40k service.
