The stock JDM spec has a ball bearing T28 and still has less power (168kw) then the Aus spec (147kw).

Even still, if both drivers were of equal talent, it should be very even.

Hmmm ok I used to own a JDM S15, and it had 185kW stock. They are really ncie cars, and they respond to mods very very well. I would hardly say its a POS. Its not quite as styley as an RX8 (but in my opinion, with a few minor exterior mods they look GREAT) and the interior certianly isn't anything outstanding, but they are damn good cars, and I would say a lightly modified S15, would spank an RX8 all over the road. I know my S15 with a few bits and pieces was much much much faster than the RX8 I used to own, and not just in a straight line either.
Having said that I don't want to start a flame war since this is a RX8 forum, but some of my fondest car memories are in that S15 :D For me they are great cars

Um, not really.

It was one of the best value for money sportscars that you could buy at the time (AUD $44K in 2001) and has such an aftermarket following that if you spent the price difference between it and the 8, it would beat the 8 into submission.

I spent close to $20K on my S14 and it kicked ***......... 12sec quarters!
Add that $20K to the original purchase price ($42K) and it still came out cheaper than the 8.

Indeed you are correct, my mistake, the JDM S14 had 168kw.
So yes, a stock JDM S15 does have more power than the 8.

Sorry I was busy at the time. Hence my short and unfair answer.

The SR engine is good

The rotary enigine has alot more potential than the SR20 will ever have.

For example an FD RX-7 you can spend $1300 and have 12 sec 1/4.

You just buy a Power FC for it.

The rotary engine responds at least twice as much as a piston engine. Renesis might be slightly different but with the new turbo kits out. The RX-8 will be a weapon just like every other RX invented.

Just so you guys know I also own a A31 Cefiro Drift Car with a RB20DET so I can slag them Rather be driving a RE !!!

Yeah nojooc I think I remember us talking about our old Silvias once. I still get a smile when I think about that car. I used to have the biggest grin whenever I got out of that car, even after 2 years of ownership. At the mo the Evo is still like that, hopefully when that fades a little I will get some more cheap power with an exhaust or something One day when I get a second garage I think I will pick up another S15. Have my Evo, and my S15, two opposites. How much fun would that be :D

I'd rather buy a FD RX-7 personally.

I drove mine to work today. Smoked another Ferrari 355 at the lights. If you want a car that is fun to drive you need a FD. S15's are fun but if you want some serious fun you need to get a FD. Only thing is a FD you need to be a little careful as they are not too forgiving. Also you can double the speed limit in 3rd gear so its also pretty easy to lose your licence. I'd recommend the FD before jumping back into a S15.

But each to there own.

Wow you don't see many 355's around auckland. Well when I had my silvia, I smoked a 360 spider down Gillies ave, so it can be done in any car. What made the silvia so great was the drive though very balanced, quite forgiving (if you don't mind a loose back end). You arn't gonna cook it and end up in a wall or upside down in a ditch.
I would say that they would have better fuel and oil consumption, and will be harder to blow up as well. In any case shall we say that for not too much money you can give either car a lot more power than you really need on the road, and that its just personal preferance Both are great cars :D

I took my mates for a drive.

Modified exhaust, manifold few other bits and pieces i dont remember, rolling on 18's and the boost is up to about 8 I think.

the clutch was very notchy, (though that could be cause of the type of clutch he was using a double plate or something)

Though it actually felt like the RX8 in steering control besides the steering wheel being alittle heavier it feels like it pushed through the corners the same as the 8.

It took bit longer to spin up the turbo, hence felt like i was driving a Pulsar until it hit the 3k mark on the tacho and it came to life.

Claims around 200kw at the wheels at the moment Im going to go dyno next time with him and stick the 8 on too.

Though it feels like it just more torque than the RX8 not necessarly faster. Just builds up quicker so gets a bette take off, rolling start etc :D

The S15 interior indeed is nothing to be happy about but i found that the cockpit was perfect for the driver
