9sec 8

Apparently there is a RX8 in America that does 9sec
I wonder if it is true?

Hymee 01-21-2005 02:03 AM

I'm pretty sure you are referring to a car that is a purpose built drag chassis, with a RX-8 look alike fibre-glass body, and a 2 or 3 rotor 13B / 20B turbo charged.

Cheers,
Hymee.

kimba2 01-21-2005 03:24 AM

i not sure
my carwash guy told me the other day when he came to wash my car
i was in a rush to leave i didn't get any other info

takahashi 01-21-2005 03:52 AM

Forgot the detail of the car but I am sure Hymee was talking about that Orange colour drag car with a K&N logo on the bonnet??

When I found it I will add in here :)

RXE16T 01-21-2005 03:59 AM

That's nothing, I've seen a 'Ford Focus' do 8 sec quarters.

Hymee 01-21-2005 12:53 PM

Chev Beretta doing 6's
BMW M1 doing 7's

C'mon - it's not a mines bigger than yours thread!

Taka, I think we are talking about Abel Ibarra's car...

http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2004.../A_Ibarra.html

Best e.t.: 6.79
Best speed: 204.29 mph

Cheers,
Hymee.

takahashi 01-21-2005 04:48 PM

That is it!

thanks Hymee

Wildcard 01-22-2005 05:22 PM

He's running an RX-7 engine (13B REW) - not a Renesis (13B MSP) if I've got my nomenclature correct.

army_rx8 01-22-2005 05:35 PM

he actually has a 20b in that car. not a 13b from a 7 or 8

at least that's what was in all the pics i saw of his car:D

Hymee 01-22-2005 07:50 PM

Army,

I would think he has a 3-rotor in it, doing those times. But Wildcard has just looked at what was printed, and quoted it. I think the article might be in error.

Cheers,
Hymee.

What?

Someone told you a fib about a 9 sec RX8 or a fib about the 8 being able to dust off a 200sx? :p

Maestro 01-23-2005 05:07 PM

Try 6's Able's RX-8 runs a 20B Turbo with NOS.

Its about as much RX-8 as a slot car though.

but so is every other pro-import

Don't forget the first rotary in the world to go 200+ MPH was here in Brisbane. If you can call Willowbank Brisbane. And yours truly has had the pleasure of seing the guru tuning the engine of it (20B, 3 x turbo's) on an engine dyno. :D

Hymee.

Maestro 01-23-2005 05:52 PM

LOL - Yeah I saw that when I posted it - But it was too late :(

Hymee 01-23-2005 06:00 PM

Don't fret. It is all good. I must be having a kiwi-bashing morning this morning.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Maestro 01-23-2005 06:10 PM

Thats alright...... Ya Under-Arm Bowler :P

:P

Hymee 01-23-2005 06:24 PM

At least that was legal, until like the next day. Trevor at least didn't extend his elbow. Now they want to make chucking legal... :(

Choppy 01-24-2005 07:01 PM

s15 200sx.. Raced one few nights ago (controlled) stock got half a car length on him. Non stock (my friend car) took me by half a car lenth but he did grind second.

1/4 track.

Regards
Phillip

kimba2 01-25-2005 03:13 AM

yeah the 200sx had a turbo kit on it.
i think it's my driving
what should i have the revs at and do i dump or let it out slowly
how about a twin screw with nos hymee;) :D
got a quote on break pads and break oil $700

Hymee 01-25-2005 04:22 AM

As many revs and as "firmly" as you can without spinning the wheels (much). So the stickier the tyres are, the better. The more you slip the clutch (i.e. slow take up) the more you will fry it. Then on the other hand, too fast a take up and to much power (i.e revs) with lots of grip could cause the diaphram to let go (i.e. lunch the pressure plate assy).

Lots to think about, hey???

Cheers,
Hymee.

You mean an "upgraded turbo kit" don't you?

Since all 200SX's are turbocharged, I should hope so, otherwise if you were unaware of this fact, you're not choosing your opponents wisely.

kimba2 01-26-2005 06:57 AM

yeah that's what i mean upgraded

DCD 02-01-2005 10:05 PM

I would have thought a stock S15 would take an RX8 pretty easy? They are quite a bit lighter, (1240kg I think?) and have more power and torque.
