Gas/Oil Premix Thread
Yea on the back of idemitsu it tells ya to do .5 oz to a gallon. I kno some people who do .5 per gallon for 3 fills ups then 1 oz per gallon on the 4th and go through the year in a stagger pattern like that. I just run 8-9 oz's every fill up.
Okay, so I had a case of Idemitsu premix given to me and I just wanted to share my experience. I have been premixing since day one on this motor with mainly Kawasaki JASO FD 2 stroke (8oz per 14-15 gallons).
I always run to empty and my fill-ups are at least 14.0 gallons or more. I added 12oz of Idemitsu and wow that stuff is like water compared to the Kawasaki 2 stroke. I don't know if that is good or bad but the cst numbers seem good so we will see how great this stuff is.
One thing that annoys me though is how shitty the plastic bottles this stuff comes in are. For the price you would think they could put it in decent bottle like the Castrol Edge bottles.

Sorry if I seem harsh but posts like your are how misinformation is spread. Just be careful and if you are mistaken and realize it later please go back and delete your posts so you don't confuse the new guys.
No harm no foul

Yes MAF is irrelevant with premixing. However , too much premix (I do not know how much is too much) may affect/reduce the gasoline octanes. For example I suppose that 1 liter of premix out of 61liters of gasoline may be considered too much.
Yeah I have always wondered what effect premix has on the gas but I have documented every fillup and premix amount since last November and honestly it has had no effect on gas mileage according to my spreadsheet and no effect on performance that I have noticed. In this last tank I put 12oz of Techron, 12oz of Idemitsu, and then filled up. I did a somewhat long trip last night to my sons football game and the car ran great.
What I am curious of though is how my fuel pump sock looks. My original pump had close to 100,000 on it when I pulled it and installed the BHR upgraded pump a few months ago. It was/is still a working pump but the filter sock looked really bad.
1/2 oz/gal is the recommendation for cars without an OMP. Most people with a working OMP use about 1/2 oz/gal or less. It doesn't really hurt to use more, but you're probanbly just wasting money. Use more on the track. You would have to use an awful lot before you'd see any significant change in octane. Someone did the calculations earlier, but I don't remember the details.

I use factory OMP with 1/2 oz. Idemitsu per gallon of fuel religiously...
Just for ***** and giggles I ran my tank to empty and put 8 gallons of 93 with no premix. When that ran out I then started back on my regular premix regimen.
I can definately tell the difference in how the engine idles. Plus it seems to run smoother.

Mess with the MAF sensor? By the way, If I had premixed gas in my intake I would definately be worried.
Don't get pissy, I'm just screwing with you.

He probably realized that premix and the MAF sensor have nothing to do with each other and that is why he hasn't responded.
It's important for people to really learn their cars and try at least to understand how they basically work. Many just skim through threads or read other articles, etc. without really taking the time to understand how things work. Obviously certain people will understand things a bit better than others and I am in no way an expert but I do try at least to not post up things that I believe to be true as fact unless I am pretty damn sure I am right. And if i do post up soemthing that I learn to be incorrect, I usually delete my post or edit it so I do not confuse others. I honestly have met 8 owners that want to attempt to work on their cars and they don't even really understand what a rotary is and how it differs from a typical piston car.

Dude, you have to use the search function. Search for thread title "Richard Sohn" and "MMO" or "Marvel Mystery Oil".
I don't recommend using Lucas as premix. It is good stuff but does this:
