there's been lots of talk on not using synthetic becuase it wont burn up and actually create more build up.

No proof just talk. I don't care if its dino or synthetic motor oil, I dont want it in my engine. I cant wait to get my sohn adapter.

I use Yamaha 2 stroke (JASO FD) that I get at Big Lots for $2.00 a quart in my SOHN and in my tank and my plugs were covered in it when I pulled them so I know its making it's way in there which is good enough for me.

People still "talk" about that bs?

10w30 Castrol GTX (Dino Oil) Flashpoint: 213 C
10w30 Mobil 1 (Synthetic Oil) Flashpoint: 224 C

Amsoil Saber Pro (Synthetic Premix) Flashpoint: 101 C

So... as we can see here, there is no difference between Dino and Synth.

There is a good difference between a standard oil and Premix however, which does make a good case for the Sohn Adapter, among other good reasons.

However, after all these years, I still cant believe people still freak out over Synthetic oils.

Which brings us back to the topic of PREMIX. Any updates from anyone. Its been ~4k miles since I startedon idemitsu, still using 5.25oz per 10 gallons (.5oz/gallon). Shes purring @ 109k on the motor. My update.

Have no fear it will fail eventually nothing can stop side seals from shrinking.

The only argument that I could see making sense is that if your using super old gaskets aka engine over 100k. Changing the oil that late in the game to a synthetic can deform the gaskets...

This happened on my z when I witched from years of Dino to RP.

Other than that I cant see an issue.

Since I have been using dino I really\ have no reason to switch over.

changing your oil type from standard to synthetic or reverse at any time in the engine's life is bad news, same goes for transmissions and differentials. i cant count how many times ive read of people switching to redline synthetic etc gearbox fluids on their first fluids change around 30k and then getting transmission grinds... if you want to run synthetics start using them after you've rebuilt your engine

Probably just oil in the intake. You could have saved yourself some money and cleaned everything yourself.

if I get 200 i jump for joy, I doubt its the premix.

Most likely atmospheric conditions/gas quality/driving slower, played a factor.

So, I bought my car about 4 months ago now, and it was a fairly old 04. It has 107k miles on it, and it is still the original engine. The buyer I bought it from took very good care of it. That being said, I have been debating about starting to pre-mix my fuel. Is there even any point to this anymore, with the car being so old?

There is always a point no matter how old or new.

Pre-mix should extend the life of the engine, no matter when you start. Of course, given, the earlier the better, but the benefits come with using it ASAP as it will start protecting the engine more. I also brought my car "old," with 104.5k, started premixing @ 105k and now its near 110k. Its purring along.

So how much oil do I put in it? Or how do I measure it?
I have several different ratios that people are using, and don't want to be stupid and put a whole bottle of 2-stroke in my gas tank and have it blow up or something.

Cool. That is a pretty easy ratio to remember. I just see all of these threads debating whether to do it or not, but none saying how to do it, even if it is a simple thing. I am overprotective of my car, so I am going to double check everything before I do it.
