RX-8 LS-1 Project
I don't think that company's understand how many people would be willing to buy a mount kit to put a V8 into the RX-8. I would buy one even if I wouldn't be ready to put it in the car for another year.
Let's see some vids

Honestly I feel like maybe the engine should be installed in the rear for better weight distribution. I know I know, I just threw a big wrench in the project =)
J/p, great build (so far).

Here is a new video from last weekend.
The car ran 12.83@110, on stock motor.
We still need to get the cluster to work.

I don't think you guys don't get it. Think about it. They don't have to turbo or supercharge it. That's a good thing.
They stuffed a completely STOCK (and relatively cheap) LS1 into the engine bay, and managed to rip off 110mph trapspeed. I think the reason they built it with a stock LS1 is because that engine with no mods is basically BULLET PROOF. It will do that 110mph quarter mile all day, every day, for YEARS. It's STOCK... there's nothing to worry about, tune, tinker with, or fix. It will just sit in there racking up the miles and make that 350+ crank horsepower without any fuss. If something does ever break, it's not difficult to fix, and parts are easy to find.
A turbo Renesis at the power levels required to do 110mph traps would NEVER be as reliable.
It is funny he takes off in second. The differential gearing must be killing the T56 ratios.
Does he know how a rotary works? Does he know how to keep it going? These can run for over 200K miles, and we have some people here with over 150,000 on the odo..
I think that believing 40K is near the end of the renesis' life is retarded.
But still were just waiting for the motor to go out so that the swap can begin

Brings a tear to my eye. That is awesome. Thank you for demonstating that the project isnt some "experiment" that can't be used to race.

Uhm no, out of my close group of friends 3 own RX8s, all 3 have about the same mileage ironically, and two have of those 3 have already been replaced under warranty. As the last one was nearing the end of warranty we gave it hell (well considerably more beating per day then it usually received) literally, when we all went to the drag strip, which was amazing since it was empty but for our group, he put in like 20 plus runs easy. Then when i got my shot at it, it was just rev limiter drops, massive donuts, attempted drifts, multiple clutch kicks, many empty parking lot visits and then in between all that i accidently stumbled onto a very curvy road.... must say it was more fun then all of the abuse

Take a look at some threads, redlining this engine doesn't hurt it.
If you want to blow it, take the rev limiter off (get a Cobb AP) and see how high it will rev. Otherwise, it will take 9500 shifts all day.
Clutch might blow, or tranny, but yea.
This probably made the motor healthier...

None of us understand this RX8 though as it is the oldest one with the second highest mileage and by far the most beating on yet every component performs amazingly.
Some of us were talking about putting in some aviation fuel to try and destroy the motor but we figured that would be cruel and will just give it a fighting chance.
Strangely the transimission behaves brand new, even after the 20 plus 1/4 mile runs, massive amounts of redline drops, utterly pointless clutch kicks, and many donuts and drifts, it seems like it just wants to stay in the car lol
^ you sir fail....
if you are wanting to swap so bad then just swap and sell your used rx8 motor for as much as you can get instead of blowing it up pointlessly....I mean really wtf
