looking for a quieter exhaust than my Greddy.
Okay..
My dad is complaining of how loud my 8 is with my midpipe and the Greddy cat-back. So, I am thinking of either getting the Borla or Racing Beat's cat-back to tone it down a bit. I know the Greddy is the loudest, but RB's should tone it down a bit, plus I like the build quality of their exhaust. What do you guys think? Borla, or the Racing Beat, and also; does the Racing beat have a dual-wall tip, so the exterior doesn't get black from carbon? I am trying to get a cat-back that won't have the tips turning gold, and black from the carbon. My Greddy's are black and gold. We have a Z also, which has the Borla and those tips are perfect chrome. They have the dual-wall tips, so the interior wall gets black, and the exterior doesn't.
I know I can reduce noise by getting rid of my mid-pipe, but I am looking for a solution to the cat-back; becuase I will NEVER get rid of my mid-pipe.
Thanks,
Jeuprx-8

The midpipe is the problem. A resonator there, and possibly a tertiary resonator like I added (as mentioned above, thread here) may do the trick. And if you replace the Greddy, the Racing Beat is reputed to be the quietest.

I heard the Mazdaspeed and that seemed substantially quieter than either the Greddy or the RB exhaust. Take a look on the Mazdatrix website. They have a video/sound clip of each exhaust on the RX8. Not a fan of the smaller tip though.

I've got a HKS on mine and I think that's too loud too.
Admittedly haven't heard the note of the Greddy, but most Australian RX8s are fitted with a Hymee cat back.
These are designed and constructed by the Australian forum moderator, Hymee, himself.

or do a search on the Australian forum to get feedback on it.

i think the greddy sp2 sounds sick. who cares what your dad says! unless he's part owner or something. from what i have heard though the racing beat is the definite quietest, but it still sounds cool.

A lot of people are looking for exhaust lately. Good to see.
I think it is a very personal choice. Read and seek other people advice and hear as much as possible before making the choice. A few people did change their exhaust and probably good to speak to them too
Good luck and enjoy searching - it is the fun of modding IMO
