I personally feel that it is having done derivatives of this for a long time but it's ultimately up to you guys.

The TB I got was from a friend who parts out Rx8's. That was a one-time deal and was done to try this out on Suay's car a few months back. I might be able to do it again but will probably only do it as a sale item on eBay after it's been ported similar to how I did it with Suay.

So far all we got is seat of the pants dyno tests and I dont put much trust in that. Before and after MAF readings are super easy to do, to bad the tests were not done by your other customers.

I will be staying tuned.

I would like to see some hard data, but I have seen good results with previous tubo cars I have owned. definately keep me posted, but i would rather just buy it an then maybe get some kind of credit as a core or something.

That falls in the category of "Every Little Bit Helps". The trick is getting enough little bits. We used to take a tri-stone hone and open up slide carbs from 38-39.5 mm on motorcycles. Not a big power gain, but ELBH.

Its conceivable that despite Mazda's best efforts to get every last drop that judicious attention to detail with things like cleaning up all the potential flow spoilers on the intake and exhaust side and retaining the stock exhaust parts there are probably 10 horses waiting to be freed.

I would like to to have my renny ported and polished one day, so who will tackle it? The BHR/CRH ported 8 is said to pull strong - man I need to do this, and then supercharge it.

But you haven't changed the Butterfly.

All your doing is making a cone effect. Over that short distance I don't see how an increased volume will impact performance.

But then again you have to benchflow it or test it.

Waiting for some users feed back.

Daddy Rat Fink ... where are you?

Although it may be efficacious on some setups, the butterfly doesn't necessarily have to be changed (i.e. replaced with a larger one) to yield a performance benefit. I've never done that one time and I've been doing throttle bodies for working on 7 years now. Take a peek at the link just below:

http://bdc.cyberosity.com/v/Throttle...After.jpg.html

Granted, that's a high-powered setup (turbocharged 13BT in a '79 Triumph Spitfire) but it shows a before and after of doing one of my throttle body jobs without having any butterflies changed. Even though overall peak power wasn't changed much (and I don't expect it to), the benefits came in a much more aggressive boost thresshold and therefore widening the effective power band. That's the kind of effect I expect.

Like Kartweb has mentioned, assuming you're not familiar with the particulars of this, you'd be surprised what kind of things can be done here and there that are minimally invasive to the car that give a benefit. Those kinds of things, like this TB mob, compliment each other. The first one of these Rx8 TB's I did was about 9 months ago on a friend's 8 and I was pretty skeptical about it doing much. I was surprised by his feedback after he'd taken it out: the car had snappier throttle, better low to mid range, and was alot more grunty through the RPM band. He said it made the car quicker. Granted, he already had an intake mod done on the car (one of those Racing Suction boxes?) so perhaps the two complimented one another. His car is otherwise stock.

Brian, why don't you touch the metal bar that holds the butterfly itself?
Making that bar thinner should guarantee some other minimal gains in flow and it is sufficiently strong to be grinded down a bit without risks.

Just an input

I agree, its the little things.

Then they ask you why are you are so fast at the track.

A flywheel makes it pretty quick.

Anything that can boost the quickness of throttle response helps on the track in third gear.

The tracks here in So Calf make you way under powered in 3rd around the corners.

It looked like, from the pictures, that he either did that and/or rounded it. Hard to tell from a 2D picture.

Its been past "Next Week" Any data gathered?

I have been asking for several weeks.

Big Daddy Rat Fink is busy with the ignition solution.

We will have to wait some more.

Research and analysis takes time.

The fact that you are both cognizant of the potential conflict of interest and willing to hold your comments because of it, is just another reason I'm going to be labeled a BHR fanboi. I <3 CRH.

I guess this discussion just died huh? No flow charts no dyno be it butt, AP, G-tech types, mechanical, load bearing, WHATEVER.

I'm buying a turbo system next mth and thought about sending off my TB at the same time I send the turbo off. I would like a little bit more data before doing such so someone chime in please.

YEAH!! for me turbo build done in two mths too bad it will be 6 mths before I can drive it.

Typically same day if not one day. It's pretty quick.

Nothing back from anyone other than the two I've spoken to who've I've done these for. I just sent one to Dominion a few days ago but I doubt he's got any kind of dyno sheet or anything.
