Sheet - ok if that doesn't work email it to me and I'll look at it.

PS - I just ran 3 logs today and mine worked fine. Granted I am more used to it. Usually this kinda thing happens when some variable in the log is fed up.

I had a few logs that wouldn't import doesn't matter what I did...never did figure it out....

I had one with an errant comma that wouldn't run till I figured it out

When it imports..... the data you get is amazing.....so much easier than trying to get your head around all the numbers.

There are some funny little data ghosts that show up sometimes though...so always use your head when you are using your new numbers........

Still no luck. Does the same thing on both computers. When I try to add a log it does everything instantly like it isnt seeing any data.
I even went and got a fresh 30 minute log this morning to see if it was corrupted logs.

Does it not like logs over a certain size?

Here is a Yee haw moment from a log I did this morning though

Not really - you have to be into the 10's of thousands before it starts to get slow.

I did one for Dan that was 500,000 records per log.

Can you zip the .mde file along with a few logs and email them to kane@ppo2performance.com?

I just ran it and it worked fine...

I sent it back to you with the log in it. Are you using a new version of Access? If you are you have to give it permission to run Baseline.

hmm..thats wierd...now its working, but ONLY with baseline MDE that I got back from you. LEt me try transfering it over ot the laptop and see if it works there as well :P

Ooooh yea. Also, wanted to ask you a question. I noticed on my maf scale when it was working before, that it had trended a big bump in my scale from 2.5-3v. Is this the same as what you caught in your scaling? Could it be from my revmatching downshifts fubaring that part of the log? Thats why I decided to start over from scratch with a fresh tune and settings

Could be - a lot it depends on driving style - that is why I tell people to log long slow pulls, instead of regular city driving - but I do it both ways.

When in doubt - open the advanced MAF scale and see if the voltages in question have lean AFR's like 20.... if so post a screen cap - and we can go over options....or you can look at my tuning thread to see what I did.

Ok, thats probably what it is then. I had alot of "junk" in that log from getting to and then back from my "long pulls road". What I'll do is just use the scale info from say 3V up since that is probably more accurate. Then I'll setup for a new tune and do some cleaner logs. Of course its raining now and I work the next few days so I may not get a chance to play with it again till this weekend.

Thanks for all the help Kane, I'll definetly keep you updated on my progress if I make any


-edit- Yep, thats what it was, pretty much everything below 2.66v is showing 20afrs in the advanced.

I’d like to offer a review of Baseline based on my experiences so far. This is for anyone that peeks in this thread once in a while wondering if they should try Baseline

I admit it, the first time I tried to work with Baseline, I gave up. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the jargon and number of settings. Following the video and online tutorial I was able to get through most of the settings but really had no clue what any of it did. So I set it aside and decided to educate myself a bit. I’ve now revisited it and I’m very glad I did.

The first thing to realize about baseline is that it is not a free tune vending machine. If you don’t know how to tune and aren’t willing to learn then Baseline is not your answer.

However, if you have a basic grasp of the workings of your engine and your tuning software it can be a huge help. You don’t have to be a pro, you just have to be willing to research a little bit. You are going to have to figure out some things about your car, and your tuning software. It’s not hard, it just takes a little time. For example, you will need to know what you want your AFRs and timing to be.

Another thing to realize about Baseline is that it’s not perfect. In its current form it has a few bugs and glitches. So far I’ve found them all to be very minor annoyances, nothing more. The interface using Office can be a little clunky, but it gets the job done. I can’t wait to see how it looks in its final standalone form.

Now then, on to what Baseline does best. So you’ve set up your tune, put it on your car and it drives awful! Your AFRs are bouncing all over the place. Your car is bucking, stalling and popping. Why won’t it just do what you told it to?! Here is where Baseline comes in. Now that you know some of this jargon you tell Baseline what your car is SUPPOSED to be doing. Go for another drive or two following the baseline instructions and feed Baseline the logs. It crunches all the numbers and compares what your car is doing to what it SHOULD be doing. Baseline then does all the tedious math for you and tells you exactly what to change. You could have done this yourself, but did you really want to sift through thousands of lines of logs compare them to your tune and try to figure out what is working and what isn’t? ((I tried that! It sucks!)) By your second or third round of tuning and running baseline you see big improvements. Not only that, but because you did all the tuning yourself you have a better understanding of what you changed. Baseline just pointed you in the right direction.

I definitely give Baseline a huge thumbs up and would like to thank Kane for letting me use it. I’d urge other forum members considering it to use it now while it’s still free. At some point Kane is going to make a final version of this, start charging for it, get rich and stop hanging out with all us poor people.

Good review man. When the weather gets better I am going to give this a shot. I have a lot to learn about tuning, but this seems like a good stepping stone.

Yeah, if I had only known I wasn't going to be the only one using this thing I woulda made it a standalone from day 1 - that is what I get for being cheap. LOL

I hired a designer Pretty High Speed to set up the user interface for the standalone version - so hopefully it will work really well.

I will throw in my "2 cents" as it comes to me, so bear with me because I think it will be usefull to get true, first-viewing impressions and I will forget what I like and don't like if I don't speak up immediately.

First thing: Give us an altitude calculator if you are gonna ask that question. Most of us know our altitude (or can find it), but we don't know our local, uncorrected barometer.

Second: I have NO idea WTF you are trying to do with the "Manifold Scale" and the "RPM Scale". That was so annoying, I quite after entering the load points, if that is even what it wanted. You should at least get the fields to auto-advance.

How many times do I need to be reminded that the beta will expire in March.

I closed the program. I'll take another stab at it once my blood pressure drops again.

LOL - joys of beta software.

Once you are done setting the engine up the pop up only shows up once...I put it in the wrong grouping of code.

The scales are required to set up the fuel maps to equate to the ones you using in your EMS.

I have some plans to make them easier... if your pissed already you are going to really hate setting up target AFR's. There is an upload tool now if you can get them into the right format in excel and then just push them in all at once. If you are just losing your goddamn mind about it then email me the file and I'll load them for ya - I have it to a science now.

Fire away man, I think that is a good idea.

I actually have a table in there - I'll make it visible when that comes up.
The biggest issue with the scales thing is that everyone has different ones - and that was the way I came up to get a 1 to infinite scale ability. I talked to Jared, and we are going to try a better approach.

The data manipulation in Baseline is very cool.....I can't wait till they have it working with a front end that is easy to use...

Having to put up with the idiosyncrasies now is still worth it..

Hey Kane I ran into that bug again where the maf scale comes up blank. I figured it out though. Its not a bug at all. I kept entering a "tune name" when massaging the logs. If I enter nothing it works just fine

P.S saw 426g/s today, over 420g/s 3 times and after entering those logs Baseline wants me to INCREASE the g/s at those loads

Baseline is good product. It does what it claims to do. But it could definitely be sleeker. Hopefully a standalone version will be multi-touch compatible.

Damn.... watch your fuel pressure - if you keep running lean at those high loads it may be related to something other than your MAF.

If 90%+ of your Maf is good (inside 1-4%) I would look at the VE map and then check your mechanicals.... a fuel pump that can't hang with he flow is a bad thing!

I think it was just because Baseline hadn't seen logs with those Maf volts before(4.61 and 4.65)
