I love my 8, but I must say I got raked through the coals because the car went from value in the mid teens to not even 5 digits. I would imagine part of the reason sales are down is you can walk around the same showroom and find the same car with 10,000 miles (no one drives them) for half the price. Hmm I can get a new one for $29,000+ or get one only 4 years old LOW miles for $10,000. It's a joke. I would be giddy if someone offered even $12,000 for my 05 with less then 50,000 miles. $3,800 a year depreciation.

As for the posts on MPG...the problem is not the MPG alone, it is the fact that there are cars with huge V8s and 100+ more HP that can get mid-20s highway. When people see only 232 hp and 16/22, that's where the big turn off is for anyone who may consider this car.
Try having a car that is virtually 5 years old with no powertrain upgrade!

At a sales rate of 250 a month, they're probably losing more on each one than they sell them for. And they just dumped a pile into re-engineering the '09s. They have to introduce a new model, or dump it. You can hear the sucking sound all the way from Japan. That's the RX-8 product line inhaling money from the other business units at Mazda..
