Clogged lower intake manifold

Clogged lower intake manifold

So I was tearing my engine down earlier when I took off the lower intake manifold. Does this look bad to you guys..



The left side has so much build up that I couldn't even press my finger through it. I don't care so much about fixing it since I just bought a new engine, but what would cause this crazy amount of buildup?

Typically with high mileage yes.

Because the old engine had bad seals on that side for a long time while you continued to drive it that way.

Bad seals where?

I have similar carbon buildup...but good compression.

Am I missing something.

then perhaps you can possibly explain for us why one side is fubar and the other not

Hello everyone .. maybe not the real place for my first post (reading the 8club since 2008) but ...


the APV on the left side has its "open" port on the other side and vice versa...

...sorry for my bad english

edit: What i want to say is .. nothin is clogged ... look on the other side of both sliding cylinders...

burning a hydrocarbon. piston engines do this too. in fact my dad owned a 2007 Audi A6 and that carboned up so badly that they took the engine apart @20k miles to clean it all out. the own, is past tense because the only other car in the family (at the time) with a decarboning in the service schedule was my 1958 Tr3, and that interval was 50k, more than twice as long as the Audi
