I'm def sticking with ethanol, I just threw that out here for anyone looking for an alternative without access to ethanol.

I've read about people having issues with premix gumming stuff up with alcohol fuels but I switched to some alcohol specific premix.

also I read ethanol tends to pick up contaminants from containers etc and AEM recommends changing the fuel filter after every 10hrs of use .

I plan on pulling my pump assembly to check out the sock soon. But the BMW guys have been mixing up to E60 for a while now without any corrosion issues so I don't expect there to be any issues. The RX-8 fuel system was designed knowing that ethanol would be in the fuel so as with other platforms, I doubt corrosion will be an issue.

Cool, I'll be curious to see what you find.

I'm on my 4'th tank of E50 and MPG has def gone down, as expected. This last tank I averaged 11MPG. But the benefits for a boosted Renesis far outweigh the MPG hit for me personally.

This 11MPG was a lot of boost logging and no highway miles. I expect MPG would improve for "normal" driving.

I haven't figured out exact mileage but it's definitely low. But I also keep my foot in it most of the time too.

I think we have 4 x E85 pumps in the entire country to choose from . One 10 mins drive from me , two next to the tracks I normally go to and the other in Auckland which is our major city 11/2hrs drive from me .

Heh, came across this...

Using lower percentages of ethanol... (E20,E30,E50) | DSMtuners

EDIT: I should clarify, I posted this for fun, not fact. Based on what I have researched the true (R+M)/2 AKI octane of E85 based on actual engine knock testing is not 105 but in the realm of 95-96.

I would geniuinely be interested to see other's strategies and results. I am a firm believer that attention to details getting idle dialed in is part of the foundation of a good tune. It reveals a host of issues such as vacuum leaks (that turn into boost leaks), injector scaling, MAF calibration, undesired LTFT, etc. I would also be interested in seeing results achieved with various tuning platforms, i.e.: Cobb, Adaptronic, etc...

Brettus I know I'm preaching the choir with you but I think there are those that may not feel as strongly

Pretty sure mine isn't as stable as that ... but not too far off . Yeah it's important to get it close but I would stop short of trying to match what you did .

Haha sorry, I shouldn't tease. Still working on picking up that rich spot off the floor between 5-6K. My typical no traction in second problem. I only work on second to see how the car responds to changes at lower loads, if you consider 230% lower lol. You asked me about boost controllers the other day, which I wasn't using one at the time. Got me thinking I've had a TurboXS HP MBC laying around so figured I'd give it another go. Seemed to improve spool up. Still need to try 3'rd...

As much as I would like to I think I've got a number of issues to deal with before going much further. Primarily fueling and clutch/trans. I had my wife hold off on the ID725 injectors until I sort some things out...
