upgrading 04 bose deck to 08+ bose deck.

I want to buy a newer model head unit for my 04 but after blowing up the old head unit. (trying to hack the aux port) I want to purchase a ~08 bose head unit.

is it possible for a direct swap or does the newer deck need new clips or harnessing for it work normally?

including heating controls/radio/steering wheel controls working properly

As long as it's from a series 1 RX8 and it's a Bose headunit as well, you'll be fine.

Interesting ... so we could put an 08 with SAT in and with the SAT module it'll work fine? I never knew that but have been curious about it.

Didn't 08 also get a BT interface?

Several people have asked about OEM sat radio. From what I remember, I think there's actually two modules you would have to buy. Amounted to like $350-$400 if bought online and I'm sure an antenna would have to be run.

Hi I have a 2004 RX8 bought yesterday (20-4-13) so very new to this game! Drives like a beauty I must add! I would like to plug aux from my phone or iPad but can't seem to locate one which obviously tells me there isn't one there. Is there an easy way to play music other than from the 6 disc sets?

First find out which firmware your running as most moduals need specific firmware to run. Press and hold tune and preset 1 for firmware version.

9.55 is best it seems for requirements standards.

also. online theres many aux moduals that will plug into the back of the deck in an aux port. But what i did before having correct firmware was buy a fm antenna modual which has white and red rca plugs and pushes the sound through a specified station on the radio

So, it is possible to swap a later (2005 or later) head unit with SAT into 2004?

Can anyone specify exactly what would have to acquired from a donor car to keep OEM units AND gain Satellite capability?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
