So I went yesterday to pick my car up after having the Flooding TSB done. I didn't flood it, but I convinced Mazda NA to do it as a preventitive thing since my car had a few hard starts. I got the new plugs, battery, and starter. So anyways, when I got into my car at the dealer and started it, the Tach needled swept all the way to 9K and then back down. The engine didnt rev , but the needle swept, like some american cars do. The weird thing is that it only did it once. It doesnt do it now, but it definitely did it when I started the car when I picked it up. Anyone else see that behavior from your tach needle ever?

 

Interesting.. I wish it would do it at start up each time...it looks neat. As for the TSB, the new starter sounds great.

 

Mazda covers all the expenses while under warranty. for the record: I never flooded my car. I just had the TSB done. I always rev to 7K and kill the car, letting it spin down with the ignition off. Ive moved the car from the driveway to the garage which takes all of like 30 seconds and so long as I rev it before I shutdown, it doesnt flood.

 

7K doesnt stress the engine one bit. I saw 7K posted here over a year ago...but now I see the 3K more often. Whatever, it works.

 

Where do you get this several times a day crap? I baby my car 90% of the time. I probably do this once every other week at best. **** you very much.

 

I dont rev it and hold it. Its a quick blip to around 6.5-7K and an ignition cut. Never had a flooded engine. Sheesh...you guys are harsh.

 

I swear I saw it posted here a long while back. But if 3K is where the fuel map is the leanest, then 3K it is. But if my car floods from that, you'll all here about it in a thread resurrection!
