Airbox Help

In the process of removing my airbox, I broke a plastic nipple. Can anyone identify this piece and exactly what it's purpose is?

It's a vacuum acumulator for the VFAD valve....You don't need it if you are removing the VFAD and installing an aftermarked intake so you are OK

Actually I'm just modifying mine, but I guess I'll be ok. I just didn't want to buy a $150 part or something just to avoid the CEL.

Accumulator.....

Yep, that's the accumulator. If you are removing it, plug off the vacuum source under the throttle body, but leave the electrical connector hooked up to the solenoid (sounds complex, but pretty obvious if you look at the system) the computer MAY monitor whether the coil is working or not, avoid a possible CEL.
