16" snow tires?

It seems like just about everyone uses 17" snow tires. (and the rest using 18"s)

I was just wondering if anyone used 16" snow tires. (Dunlop Sport M3's 225/55HR16)

I found I could save a lot of money getting the 16" instead of the 17"

Is there a reason not more people use 16"s? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: By using TireRacks recommendation system, the base trim of the automatic RX-8 is the only model that can take 16"s.

All power to you if you can get the rims to fit....

I don't think anyone has found any 16" rims that fit over the front brakes on the sport model cars.....

Just guessing, but do 16s fit the brakes on the manual? Might be auto only. Just a guess.

Ok, I did my research and the base automatic RX-8 is the only one that will take 16"s.

DAMNIT

Thanks for your input guys, looks like this is going to cost more than I wanted.

EDIT: I just got an idea! I'll get the 16" tires... and to hell with the rims! Who needs em!?

something to plan out before you buy your car

tip: buy 17inch mazda3 rims for cheap, put on cheap winters...but nice winters will last much longer

Hmmm that's a good idea... but has anyone you know of tried this?

I don't want to be paying anymore than $50 / rim.

I got some cheap rims for about $110 each...and Pirelli 210's at cost.....still sucks

But you can't drive without them...don't even try....or it will cost you a lot more than the rims and tires....

And you will still have to buy something to be able to drive

winter 17X7 and stock....and I think I'm going to get a set of nice " pretty" street wheels in the spring..
