I have been thinking and I'm trying to come up with a way to cut off my sound system when ever I want. A SAFE way to do so would be good lol

Heres what I have been thinking of. When I installed my system, I can tell that I lost power. I changed the plugs went out and got a red top battery keep up on the oil changes but its all the same. Just like when I had my AT and installed my system I lost power. Not much but you can tell its on the lowend.

So What I'm thinking of is a way to cut the wire that runs from my battery with something like a kill switch or just disconect it and put something on the end of the wires so its not sparking all around my engine bay lol and when I want to run around on the track I can. Well not that I cant now just that its not the same like when I had all my BPU and no sound system :smoker:

Anything? Or should I take it to a audio shop and let them do it?

get a marine breaker switch and put it inline on the power to your amp.

Wire a switch up to a relay.......use low power to trigger relay...and the high power circuit to drive the amp...very safe and easy

Why not just a switch inline with the remote turn on lead? Amps don't draw power when turned off. For proof, I left my car in a storage hanger for 6 months while I was deployed to the Middle East. (3 amplifiers. ~3800WRMS) Came back. Car fired right up. Had a flat tire though.:(

I was thinking the same thing. There should be no reason that your car lost power because of the system. There might be a drag from the alternator with the system at full hilt, but not enough to notice, maybe 1-2HP at most. I'm pretty sure it is simply from the heavy box/subs/amp that you added.

If you want to get something, get some quick release connectors for the power/ground/remote lines, attach the amp to the box and then you have something that is easily removable.

For the power/ground, you can get a connector like this:

For the Remote line, you can use something like a spade connector found at any Radio Shack.

They have circuit breakers for audio systems.

Parasitic draw certainly isn't going to make you loose HP. And yes, they do make circuit breakers for car audio purposes. Smallest I've personally seen them is 100 amp though.

Never said I was loosing hp due to Parasitic draw. How ever I have lost hp due to the system install. Ever sence I went from 8g to 4g wireing from the battery to my stuff in the trunk.

So if this dont work then I will upgrade my alternator.

#1 Well if it wasn't power draw and it wasn't the system weight.... what's left!?!

#2 H/O alternators DO rob you of a few ponies. More load to turn the pulley coupled with the frequently used smaller pulley diameter.

#3 That is a 200amp breaker. You'll melt your 4g wire before that breaker trips. Again, the smallest I've seen them is 100amp. What are you running back there?

I have 0 ga wire......they have different amp sizes...get the best one for your application.
