Well im going to use this thread as a before and after when i finsh fixing my greddy kits issues ive been having lately.

Heres the list of what i replaced

Upgraded greddy couplers to silicone units with t-bolts
Ditched the turbo xs bov for a syncronic diaphram-less BOV
Rebuilt and did the mazsport turbo upgrade to my greddy unit
Replaced greddy CAI with mazsport unit
Replaced greddy Intercooler with mazsport upgrades

In about 2 weeks i will be trying meth injection, so i plan on doing a before dyno and an after dyno with A/F's so people can see the benifit

stay patient guys, the turbo and couplers shipped yesterday. the other goodies ship today/tommrow.

really honestly its counterproductive to buy the upgrade if your going to use the small greddy i/c and the heat intake that sucks all that warm air.

IF you guys order the turbo i would strongly suggest atleast ordering the cold air intake.

I'll buy lunch for the first guy who posts dyno sheets of the gt2871 upgrade. Assuming ignition wasn't an issue, I think we'll see 340 whp, maybe more.

turbo came in friday, with couplers and t bolts!!

Intake came in today.

I/C has not shipped yet :banghead:

Meth injection is another week out.

With a prelim tune done by scott about a month ago when i was in NJ. the retuning process should not be that hard. with scott on the phone most of the time.

I hope to see 340ish hp or whatever i can get until my coils blow. If i need a new ignition setup i will be talking to Mazsport.

Subscribed!

How much methanol are you gonna be running?

Any feedback Nick? How do you like the new parts. Was it easy to install?

The Greddy Turbo Upgrade will give you more HP in the midranges. It is a good way to maximize the performance of a Greddy turbo.

Do you have any before and after pics? I have been talking to you for a while now and dont even know what your 8 looks like, LOL.

Just wait, I'm working on it!

Hey, I know im probably going to get flamed for this but everything I have read about rotories is even though they are small displacement motors that they would move as much air as a piston engine twice there size. So if this is true wouldnt a gt2871r be too small?

^Too small for what? It all depends on what you want...

What I mean by too small is my audi is a 1.8t a gt2871r is still considered a small frame turbo. I could put that on my car ,it will have some lag, but it will provide a good power band, from 3000 rpms to redline 7100 rpms. Now on an rx8 which can move alot more air and burn alot more fuel then my car, wouldnt this turbo spool and run out of steam way before redline? From what i was reading is that these cars have cooling and detentation problems. So wouldnt you want to run a bigger turbo at a lower boost pressure so pre ignition wouldnt be as much as a problem?

my feedback on all the parts i got.

Everything is really easy to get installed the couplers are a MUST! they are serious pain in the AW$#@@ to install because they almost seem like they are too small..

the intake is an easy install also. just make sure you get it on there tight becuase if it leaks or anything the bumper is kinda a pain to get back on.

while i had the bumper off i put my Mazsport intercooler on. let me just telll you its is AWESOME. soo much more flow. and alot better looking, and really fills the mazdaspeed opening perfectly!

I still havent got my meth kit yet i really want a kit that is a clean install and scott thinks he can have the int-x control the injection of the meth. which is what i want.

without an actual dyno tuning session done since the new mods i have no idea what i will be able to push the car to. I really dont want to tune without the meth so i may wait until next spring.

Anywhos i want to thank betsy for all the help and putting up with my constant phone calls before i actually ordered anything.

It depends on where you want your power, some don't like the powerband of the engine and hence the small turbo and others like me feel a midsized turbo fits better. All depends on what works for you.

The point is that some people want a fast spool up and don't care if it runs out of steam up top because they typically don't use the entire rpm range while driving. Others want X number of horsepower and don't care how fast the turbo spools. Everybody wants something different and thus it all depends.
