Willow springs - elise rental

So, I'm counting my blessings- I got very very lucky playing video poker in Vegas over the break. Wasn't sure I was still going to have a job at the end of this year, thankfully the job is still there and the video poker winnings was a really sweet kicker.

So my question is this: I'm strongly strongly considering doing the track-prepped elise rental with these guys at willow springs
http://www.f1kracingschools.com/lotus_elise.php

Has anyone done this or know someone who has?

Is it worth the cash?
Just want to hear some experiences and advice, is this a good experience?
Would be my first time driving on a track

can't say i've tried it, but it looks fun...

do you have better ways to use/save your cash if you were worried about losing your job? I'd say save the $$ until you're not worried about your job, or have a huge emergency stash saved up...

No, I've only taken my stock 8 up to 138, it didn't feel like it was slowing down either. It tops out at 155 (in 5th gear), whereas the Elise tops out at 150. If I could trade, I would though. I love the Lotus'.

Nice. 130 was as fast as I dared go in mine, but it felt like it still had plenty left to chug out.

Elise is like 190hp / 1,950lbs
Rx-8 is like 215-232hp / 3,000lbs

Seems to me like the elise would pull to a higher top speed but I guess it has more to do with final gearing and how much drag?

Would love an elise with a wankel in the back!

You mustve got very lucky on video poker to be considering spejnding $1400+ on anything like that. The $1400 just includes rental of a car and not actual instruction in driving, what did they quote you for the whole thing? I now see it just starts at 1400 and goes up from there, not sure what they charge for the lotus.

Then you can add in the cost of the racing gear(gloves 70 to 190, helmet 600 to 1100, body suit 650 to 1700, and shoes 160 to 270) your looking at quite a chunk of change, minimum of about $1500 for the cheaper gear they offer, assuming youed be buying it there as they do not provide any. I dont know if its required but they ask you to bring your own, so seems like it would be.

Also what did you hit in video poker if you dont mind me asking? I am just curious what hand, not the amount.

I had good luck ONLY if I was sitting playing at the bars - didn't do as well if I moved away from the bar. This was at multiple casinos - treasure island, venetian. Seemed to me like they had the machines at the bar rigged to pay out the days that I was there becuz I was getting something to work with almost every single hand.

On night #2 I turned up a 4/5 of a royal flush, held the 4 and got the card I needed. Betting dollars. On night #3 I turned up 3-aces, held and got the 4th ace and a 2-kicker betting quarters.

Not a smart financial decision but you only live once so.................. And what does it matter if the 8's top speed is comparable to the Elise? I swear people just post up random **** for the hell of it.
