Tustin Mazda Change

I had very good experiences with Tustin Mazda and the Service Advisor Gary Marstens over the past few months.

The dealership has changed ownership and is now Heritage Mazda, most of the sales, service and parts people are gone so is Gary.

I dropped off my car yesterday for a few items recalls included. They forgot to fix the glove compartment and not sure if they changed the oil since when I checked it today it looked dark brown (not fresh oil).

I called them back this AM but they are so confused with new ownership that can't ven route phone calls to the right person and nobody has called me back yet.

In all fairness, they washed the car and provided a loaner.

oh crap..I have a couple things that need to be done..

Still have the recall stuff as I haven't had the chance to get it done(stupid long hours), some small AC problems, and a couple of TSB items such as the shifter insulation. and one little rattle in the steering column..

so does anyone have any suggestions for a good place then to drop off my baby?

Galpin? Irvine? Cerritos?

edit: i was going to drop it off at tustin as thats where I heard the best service was. bummer

Cerritos blows as much as their sales staff. I went there simply to see the place, and the employees were clueless about any Airbag recall, flooding issues, etc. Maybe it's because their fix Mitsubishi's, Kias, Olds, Hummers, etc etc in the same location. Would you want a dealership with limited space, limited knowledge of your car, and over abundance of other brands, fixing your car?

Oh I knew it was trouble when I pulled up, and the girl says, "Here for an appointment for your Eclipse?" Uhhmmm I know I removed the front badge... but an Eclipse? Great.

I would stay away from Irvine Mazda, their service has sucked so far and I will never go back. They have a bunch of incompetent people running service there.

I have not tried Laguna Hills (I think it is Phillips Mazda) but might try them out.

oh boy.. this is sounding like its going to be fun.. if I go in knowing more about the car than they do then I am in trouble. hmm only other dealers I can think of would be Huntington beach, or Long beach.. any thoughts?

I, for one, am glad they changed. I had the worst buying and service experience there ever. Anyone know if their Sales Manager Tim is still there? He cussed at me and my family when making our deal. Not a nice guy.

You forgot about Anaheim Mazda by the Pond and Angels Stadium off the 57. From the south, you would take 57 N, off on Ball Rd, right turn.

It's not that far from Tustin Mazda (which is now Heritage Mazda).

RenesisPower, I agree with you, I just had a beef today with the entire Heritage (Tustin) Mazda service staff, especially that pr*ck Victor. Gary and Tim use to be so nice but too bad they're gone. And now comes the unprofessional clueless clowns to take down Mazda name.

Not only did he not wanted to help me with the L Reflash, but he wanted to charge me $85 to perform the service. He sounded like he had better things to do than to help customers on the phone.

try galpin mazda in van nuys. its way out of your way (and out of mine) but they're curteous and the service is good. although the place is crowded so you probably wont be able to run in and run out, usually they provide you a loaner and ask you to leave the car for a day.
they gave me my L flash w/o me even asking. sam's the service manager, he's very easy to deal with. and on the plus side the girl at the counter was hot, as was the receptionist in the showroom.

p.s. check out the custom rx8 in the showroom

I've been using Heritage Mazda in Huntington Beach for my last few services. The staff there is pretty knowledgible, but don't expect calls from them or be able to reach them on the first try. They always say that they'll call you right back, but they never do. And if you have to call them, it takes over 3 calls and 10 minutes on hold...just my experience...

I've just been really disgusted with Mazda service in general--at all dealerships. It's really sad because I want to recommend Mazda vehicles (especially the new Mazda3) to friends, but because of the poor customer service I've received I can't. My parents, who love my RX, really wanted to buy one of their own until they saw all the bad service I've gotten from dealerships. Now they have sworn off Mazdas forever.

I worked in Customer Service for a few years and it's not the hard to treat customers with respect. Man I miss Commonwealth VW/Audi in Santa Ana. Their customer service is amazing! Mazda, take a look at what your dealerships could be!!

Hi Outlaw. I just want to say WOW! I work here at Browning Cerrits. since I own a RX8 I personnally keep all the Techs and advisors updated with all the newest information. Which wroter did you talk to? We do have a new Service advisor that just came from another ddept. and is training to be an Advisor. perhaps it was her? who knows, Im not trying to make excuses, just really surprised about the way you were treated. we are very rx8 customer friendly and we are up to date on everything rx8 related (thanks alot to the people of this forum there sems to be more infor here then at mazda hq) anyway next time you come in ask for tech ALex to work on your rx8 he is certified with the rx8 and always works on my rx8. also ask for Robert in the warranty dept. (thats me) and say hi!!

Maybe this is Mazda's problem...Shouldn't all techs be certified on all Mazda vehicles???

WTF?

I am bummed to hear about Gary being gone from Tustin. Anyone know where he and his crew went? I would gladly follow him to whatever dealer. I don't know where to get my car serviced now.

good point, my miswording, yes our master techs are trained in all mazda vehicles, we have 3 master techs that are rx8 certified, i just pointed out that they were rx8 certified because it is a rx8 forum, and didnt think anybody would care if they weere certified in oither mazda's. i mentioned alex because he is our top mazda tech (group leader, shop foreman) he also owns a rx7 and hsa a lot of knowledge with the rotary engines.

also i mentioned in another thread will mention hee too. if ANYBODY in the rx8club wants to bring their car in to our service dept. for any kind of work just ask for me (Robert Glover) and i will personally help you, that way you will now the person taking care of you is a true rx8 fan and will treat you and your car properly!
