Arrow Nor*Cal San Jose Meet/Chat thread...

If you live in San Jose, Milpitas, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Cupertino, or Campbell come out and let's have a good time . I've been browsing, but have not found a tread for this location . I currently meet with great people at Union City , but thought I would be nice to stay a little closer to home sometimes. Valley Fair or Santana Row would be adequate, but other suggestions are welcome. I've seen lots of 8's around here, so I know you're out there, so let's get this thing rolling...

I live in San Jose and think a SoBay meet is a great idea. Just give me a time and place. I'm down near Almaden and the 85 but work in Milpitas.. so either area is fine by me.

Alright! one down many more to go C'mon guys I know there's more of us out there..I'm in the Blossom Hill/Monterrey hwy area so Oakridge would also be a good location. I'm shooting for a central point, so it's a fair distance for everyone. Put your names down and let's come up with a time that works for everyone...

Why don't we stagger meets so that one week it's a little closer to North Bay and another week it's closer to South Bay? That might work out better than trying to have separate meets.

That would be nice, but for example laythor lives in the almaden valley and a SoBay meet would probably work out better for most. I honestly don't mind driving up to U.C whenever I can.

I'm in Palo Alto, work in SJ. I'd like to get to know the local 8 owners, so I'll try and make it out to something.

Ever, what day are you going to make the meet and time? How often are you going to have these meets, once a month, week, day? Ok... the day thing was a joke.

I suggest you take a hold of this and choose a central location, Valley Fair seems like it's in a good location and there's a huge parking lot. A Fri or Sat meet in Santana Row might prove hard for parking. If you choose Dave & Busters I know some of the people up here would be willing to head down that way and parking is really easy. What ever you plan I'll be at your first meet.

When did socal ever been part of the bay? There is a NorCal/Bay Area meet, there are some south east bay'ers that want to set up their own meet.

I think that SoCal "bay" people are the deluded few who think that Newport's "Back Bay" is actually a bay, and not just a swamp.

I'm driving down to SoCal this weekend... so if you can make it for next weekend that would be awesome!

i've heard a lot of socal'ers refer to it as 'south bay' is all- tho i'm not sure about the technicalities... it's confusing to say the least.

Actually I've always associated South Bay with SoCal so yes I do get the two mixed up from time to time. It didn't help that I played hockey in South Bay when I was growing up.

Really? I lived in Long Beach for 23 years and have never heard of SoCal as South Bay. South Bay is like San Jose to Gilroy. Just go to LA and try telling people that they are in the Bay area, hahaha... I think the limit is like Bakersfield.

Here's some tid-bit from Wikipedia:

The South Bay is a region in the southwest peninsula of Los Angeles County, California, United States. Its name stems from the fact that it stretches along the southern shores of Santa Monica Bay, which forms its western border. The picture at right uses the broadest definition of the region, including all communities south of the 105 and west of Long Beach (with the exception of Compton, which is generally considered South LA). A more restrictive definition of the South Bay includes only the Beach Cities, the cities of the Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes Peninsula, and Torrance. This definition is more commonly found near the ocean, while not as accepted in the inland portions of the South Bay. The region is bordered on the north by West Los Angeles, on the northeast by South Los Angeles, on the east by the Gateway Cities, and on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean.

The Harbor (I-110), San Diego (I-405), Gardena (CA/SR-91), and Century (I-105) Freeways provide the region with its principal transportation links. The Los Angeles MTA's Green Line light rail line also serves the South Bay. Several ports and harbors in the South Bay provide access to Santa Catalina Island, a popular resort.

Note that in Southern California, "South Bay" may also refer to the South Bay of the San Diego Area, this area includes cities such as Chula Vista and National City, California. In Northern California, "South Bay" refers to the South Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area.

I never called it south bay because I was never in these areas.

I played hockey in Torrance and the rink was called South Bay. You tend to remember that.

Thank you, feels good to have your support. Once I get some more people interested, I will scout the parking garages and other places for the meet to see what would be more adequate. Both Valley Fair and Oakridge have a couple of good places to eat and movies inside the mall or nearby. D&B would be a good place, but I'll get everyone's opinion on that and see what most think. I think every other week would be cool, so that people don't get bored of it too quick and that leaves room for everyone to do their thing one weekend and come out the next for some

Sorry there, wasn't aware of that. There's a thread with Nor*Cal/Bay Area already and didn't want any conflict.

I go away for a few weeks and the Bay gets broken up into two. Its a civil war! I wouldnt mind if we switched it up from time to time. The problem is finding a local that is as good as Union Landing.

I'll be moving down to Fremont next month and will be working in Milpitas. So I should be up for some meets. Hopefully by then my 8 will be nicely tinted.
