Zumn: that's normal bro, they did the same thing to newcastle's car. Mazda makes them check the coils, the cat, the compression, and then the vacuum. They also must attempt to decarb the motor and if possible drive the vehicle.
The engine has to fail the vacuum and the compression before a reman will be ordered. Mazda is being VERY selective about who they give engines to and the dealerships have to follow all the procedures because if they swap an engine, and then Mazda tests it at the Reman plant and it PASSES the test, the dealership gets a charge back and the warranty money is denied. ie: the dealership is out $2,000 for the engine and they just did all the labor for free...
