For some reason most of us have all our dyno runes 'saved' but the files are all the SAME. ie; Jedi runs 1-6 are all 129.9.

I guess there won't be a giant thread with dyno #'s after all. Besides, the real mission was to get most of the cars properly tuned and thanks to Jeff, that was taken care of.
Jeez! No dyno #s? That sucks major *****. I was looking forward to something at least...is this the final word on this?

How would you tune an ECU without a Cobb AP? I guess you could have an Ultimate or an X but not you

Vegas?!?! I'm there.
As long as it's on a weekend, count me in pretty much any time.
I will be in Vegas 4th of July weekend, and I have free nights offers in May and June. (Sorry, free nights only for 2ppl, and I'm not sharing a bed w/ any of you guys, so my wife wins that spot )

they don't want to put up any results because the dyno was reading so low it would be an too much of an embarrasment to all RX8 owners - we aren't the only ones who read these forums............ Just a hunch

@Jedi - Have you thought about doing another dyno somewhere else?
I'm half tempted to go dyno my car somewhere.
First run w/ the map that Jeff setup, then I would un-install the AP to put the Racing Beat Flash back on, then for the 3rd I'd flash back to Jeff's map.
I just don't know where to go for reliable dyno #'s.

Cesar: giving lots of thought to using the shop that did our dyno day last year. I need to see if he's available any time soon.

I'll let everyone know when the next dyno day is. We probably won't have as much run running a muck in the shop as we did at NeptuneSpeed but we'll hopefully have #'s that we can post.

Ray, of course it's far less important, but I couldn't make it because of my trip so it was all I was looking forward to

Putting my emotional eggs into the wrong basket is just my luck.

Shesh, that was a lot of posts to read through. I have been intending to post sooner but had a So Cal Homebrew Festival to attend. Now I am finally sober enough to make sentances

I find it a bit funny how the dyno must be screwed up because everyone got owned by an AT. Not to say that it is not possible it was having problems, but it seems that everyone is looking for a way to justify this not being possible.

First off, the numbers were 156, 160, 121. That means two of the pulls were higher than any non-FI car there. The next closest pull was 148 by Jedi on his best run. As Yoshi pointed out, on my last run the car was hotter than sh*t. I would also point out that several of the ATs and MTs had the same pattern where the last pull was significantly lower (also probablly due to overheating). The fact is, when the car gets hot, the HP goes down. That is the whole point behind a CAI.

I would attribute the HP difference to several things. The first one is that my car was the only '08 there. It is very possible that Mazda improved the performance on the engines due to all of the past complaints by owners. The second reason could very well be that the Mazda factory themselves performed the mods and tunes to my car (other than my rims). And last but not least would be that the car has 10k miles (so still tight) and was the first off the '08 production line so tolerances were probablly checked closely.

In any case, I think it is just AT envy. Go return your MTs and get a better performing car

I would have loved for the readings to be correct, it would have made my year.

lol no one was there to see my NA get 148, everyone only remembers jedi reaching that number =( oh well.

even though the numbers were wacky, everyone had a great time and it was well worth it in my opinion.

and i would never trade in my manual for an auto, manual is just too much fun =)

What makes you think they were not correct?

as a matter of fact, the AT was faster than all of us, it's true, I got 5 MTs to back it up

I am regretting my decision of getting an MT

me and some other people are waiting for the 2009 AT rx8s

it's the same engine as used in MT. If you want an AT, just get an accessport and set the redline to 7500 rpm. Now you're just as fast as they are. :P

Because if the #'s were correct, the AT is faster than every MT that was there, including the Turbo'd ones.
That also means that the fastest car there that day was Taj.
Is that the kind of world you want to live in?
