Cool Socal Beach Cruise DISCUSSION/FEELER Thread

2nd Annual Socal Beach Cruise 2010!!
-Discussion/Feeler Thread

Due to its popularity the socal beach cruise has returned for yet another summer season! w00t w00t! Please note: this thread is to generate interest and discuss the details of The OFFICIAL Socal Beach Cruise - this is NOT the sign up thread. That will be created shortly.

NEVER BEEN?? READ UP! (For teh N00bz):

The Socal Beach Cruise is a seasonal/annual event that takes place during the summer months (May-August). This is a CRUISE and not to be mistaken with a spirited driving session or a simple meet n' greet. This cruise is not only gather and meet but to unite enthusiasts....that and show-boat a lil' bit .

BEEN HERE BEFORE?? (For teh VETS):

Welcome back bitches...same rules as last year, just a new crowd. Get your game faces on, wash n' wax your **** to be seen by the masses. No more of this rag-tag "i don't know what i'm doin'" bullshit. We're more organized this year n' so this year should be a breeze. heh...

IMPORTANT! NEW STUFF!

- We will now be extending the cruise an extra ~5miles.
- New ending location = Bolsa Chica State Beach
- New starting point = Taco Bell HEADQUARTERS rear parking lot
- New option for food. See Below.

EXPECTED EXPENDITURES:

Parking: $15
Prepay (w/byob): $5
Prepay (w/food): $10

Reason for the change in location:

Unfortunately as successful as the Socal Beach Cruise was for us - many people who owned the parking structure didn't feel the same way. The facility we once occupied is now litered with new raised dimples on the entrance and exit that prohibit any lowered vehicles from entering or exiting without body contact. This is no exhaggeration as this lot has already damaged many of our cars.

Reason for food expenditures:

As much as we all enjoyed the HBBC we will not be returning there for another year due to our new location. To remedy this many people had suggested that perhaps our own BBQ would allow us to not only save money but to also satisfy the quantity of food we can consume.(Lets face it, some of us can EAT). From tallying the total amount spent per person last year(including parking fee + food n' drink) - we each spent approximately $26.50 on average. This year we plan on keeping a similar bill with less hassle. $15 will get you parking and an extra $10 will help with our reservation and food (to be paid at starting point). We will be BBQing burgers, hotdogs and byob's along with chips, potato salad and macaronni salad. If you choose not to eat the food that'll be provided then we
only ask for $5 to help with the reservation fee. Depending on the size we get to participate - we may have a shot at reserving the better lot.

Link to picnic area's:

LINKY: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=24143

**I am looking to reserve Picnic Area 18C or 17D** - 18c does not have bbq pits however it's right next to the basketball courts. 17d doesn't have shade but does have 5 bbq pits. Either someone can bring some pop out tents or someone can bring some bbq's.

Bottom Line: If you don't wanna eat the BBQ, Bring $20 and you're good.

Event Details:

TENTATIVE DATE: Saturday, June 26th
Starting Point: Mazda HQ parking lot
Secondary Starting Point: Taco Bell HEADQUARTERS Parking lot (across the street)
Starting Time: 9am
Departure Time: 10am
Ending Location: Bolsa Chica State Beach

Route: 405North => 133South => right on PCH => PCH to End Point.

Rules:

- No Speeding
- No hard revving
- Do not block daily traffic
- No burnouts

*Please be sure to abide by these rules as it is necessary for us NOT to get attetion from the local PD.

***Thread is open for discussion - please provide feedback on what you like or what you don't like - if you're down for it or if you're not down for it - please keep in mind this is NOT the sign up thread - that will be up shortly.

Rev; that's what this thread is for - to discuss how we want to do this.

PERSONALLY - i would prefer everybody pitch in and we can bbq at the location instead of a potluck because people tend to skimp out on bringing **** - then all we have is a **** load of chips n' sodas and no REAL food. I figure that if everybody pitches in I CAN ASSURE everybody will eat some real food.

IMPORTANT:Depending on how much we can get pitched in - we may be able to get a better spot and more food n' drinks.

okay, so we set up a paypal account for people to send Atilla money. We can trust him and he's an accountant so the money will be safe. If people are already invested in the meet after sending money they are less likely to flake out as well

so why not do a reasonable collectors fee depending how many ppl we get on the list but you need to start a list first so we can determine how much ppl can pitch in i'm willing to pitch in a few bucks if we get a nice spot

@ rev: exactly. I will also have a way to monitor who has paid and who hasn't so that way everybody who did pay for food will get food and all those that didn't will not.

Simple n' fair.

We can do paypal for those who want to make it easier however you will only need to pitch me the money for food. Please keep the money for the entrance for when you get there (i know it doesn't really need to be said but i'm pretty sure someone is gonna ask) lol.

Chase: the reason why i say we don't need to start up the list is because irregardless of how many people attend we will get a spot. If we can't reserve a spot we'll just have to play it as 'first come, first serve'. At that point we will NEED your bbq.

rev8: yeah, that's what i think too but i honestly think this is a more efficient way to hang out n' actually meet. Last year's meets were fun but we mostly threw all that together as spur of the moment. We could do that here n' not pitch any money for a reservation but that'll leave us at the mercy of 'first come; first serve'

If you guys think we should try it out - then that'd be fine by me. What do you guys think??

but this is way cheaper than the hb brewery for sure. at a sit down and eat place its hard with a big group because they dont split the bill and add a 18% gratuity to large groups.

btw; i forgot to mention...i will be inviting the mocc, scm and rx7club as well. I'm pretty confident we will have a pretty solid turnout

So what do you guys think?? Should we make this first one a 'first come; first serve' or take no chances and reserve our spot??
