Hey Tim,
... looks like the Texas boys and some other adventurers from further East are going to take on the coast to coast caravan again 2002 style! I posted a thread on both forums rx7club as well as here about the caravan, I think we'd like to try and meet up with you guys on Friday morning again.

Can't wait! May be in the middle of an overhaul/conversion to single turbo this year, so I may or may NOT be driving my car. If not in 'Ol Yeller, I'll be riding shotgun with someone else. Either way I will be organizing a group from AZ once again. Keep me posted on your coordination efforts from Florida through Texas.

Right now, their site doesn't allow for booking that far in advance.
However, I'm sure a call to the manager this early in the game (once we are certain that the event is really going to take place - the site is still not updated and I haven't heard from any of the organizing clubs) would ensure a pretty good rate.
EDIT: Travelocity is listing the Doubletree's regular rate at $109 per night, which is only $20 more than we paid last year.

Maybe!
The hotel of choice is the Doubletree Hotel Irvine-Spectrum.
It is walking distance from the venue and it has covered parking.
Last year they gave us a $98 room rate, which is $10 less than their current booking rate for that weekend.
More important than the rate at this point is timing because I fear that this hotel may become the "official" hotel since it was so superior to the official hotel last year in almost every way. If that happens, it might book up solid very quickly.
SSX is official, so get moving!
