Sorry I couldn't make it out tonight.

Wife didn't even get home from work till 8ish.

We ended up watching some Initial D and Top Gear together, at least.

hah!

nice, hows the repair going on the RX8 - I got the Sunday Drive on the 14th of Oct if you and the wife want to come out - more than welcome to bring the Sonata if the rotarys are still down...

Esco meet in a couple of weeks at a new spot hoping to see a good group up there

Nothing but bad news on the RX-8.

1.) Mazda corporate says I have to buy a BRAND NEW ECU because supposedly they can't just flash/force load the vehicle ID and make the ECU tune back to stock. So that's about ~$900 for a new ECU.

2.) Mazdatrix won't warranty their labor to swap in a new motor

3.) So that means I have to pay the Mazda dealership ~$1,400 labor + ~$900 for a new ECU.

= THEN Mazda will at least warranty their parts AND labor...

So yeah, I'm pretty pissed/bummed.

The RX-7 is at least nearing completion.

My hope is that they have it running within the year. There's always issues coming up, of course. Wiring/pinout issues...various parts...you know how this stuff goes.

meh.... -_-;;

Have you thought about sending the ecu to Racing Beat to have them reflash it?

I need it to be warrantied by Mazda. They will NOT do the motor warranty replacement unless I purchase a brand new ECU. That was decided by the District Manager for the SouthWest region of Mazda...I don't have a choice, if I want my motor to be replaced under warranty.

When's the next San Diego meet?

I should be picking up my RX-8 from the dealership on Saturday, finally. I'd love to meet up with y'all again!
