p.s. just thought i'd mention it here in case anyone's interested...

one of my best friends is selling his 2006 BMW Mini Cooper. (basically, they needed a bigger car is reason for selling.) it's in like-new condition, has been well-taken care of, and has about 15k (mostly freeway) miles on it. color is white top, blue metallic body, white wheels. i think they listed it on craig's list for around 21 or 22k. but, i've been told he'll entertain reasonable offers. he's off to taipei on business, but will be back in a few weeks.

Thanks Detrich and Loren.
Auto cross went well. car felt a whole lot better then last time. still dont understand why it was soooo bad last time.
This time I was right back to running decent times. 1st 2nd and 3rd runs were all within 3 tenths of each other. (last time they were all over the place not to mention 2 seconds off the pace.)
anyways, wound up winning.

yes it was a very busy weekend. Friday was nice, got to relax. Saturday was pretty busy, Sunday ew raced, then went to a BBQ, then came home and had a couple of Michelles friends over that she had not seen in years. then Monday we had another BBQ to go to.

Anyways, hope everyone had a good weekend!

Forza 2

Forza is being released this week. Make sure you have your Xbox 360 and a preorder for the game.

I'm going to overnight some parts from Japan and I will decimate all.

I will be calling them tomorrow to see when they expect delivery....or if they already have them. Most stores should have them by the 30th....but most likely will not be able to release them...even to those with preorders, until the 31st. Don't think they will have the midnight release that they have had for other games...most notiably...the Halo series.

Houston we have a problem....

I'm starting to have slight problems when shifting into 2nd gear. If I try and upshift at high RPM's (or even downshift), I end up grinding the gear going in.
I keep having to wait for the RPM's to drop below 4 or 5K to shift into second because I don't want to take the risk of grinding.

TeamRX8 suggested adjusting the clutch pedal or bleeding the line. Any thoughts???

i am almost wondering if we should all (i say WE as though I am part of this group - sorry) take our cars in to the same dealer - especially considering they are under warranty (Jorge and Casey - you guys still have pretty low miles right?). I know you guys HATE Romero ...B......U......T..... since keith has already made a pretty big deal about his transmission down there and then having several OTHER 8's come in with the same problem might raise a red flag that there is something seriously wrong the 8s transmission. I mean come on - Casey I know you have like 18k on the car and its grinding? thats ridiculous.

Mine has 29,000 on it now (put a LOT of miles on it the past 10 months) but it's still pretty ridiculous that it's grinding. You guys know me...other then our canyon runs, I baby my car so I can't figure out why it would be doing this sooooo soon.

The Service Manager near my office used to be a Forum Vendor on here and I'm on pretty good terms with him so I might try there first but I have NO problem with all of us going to the same dealership if I can't get it resolved.

@ Loren....I will be away from Xbox on the 31st...as I will be attending a grad night with Erica.....so, I may only have one day on you....that is, if I am awake at all on the 1st. Grad night is 9pm-5am at Disneyland.

@ Erica...you make a good point about possibly using the same dealership. It has an advantage of sorts, with the fact they can't suggest that this is not a common problem. This was what they kept telling me, but I knew it was not the case given the number of failures I am aware of with our group, as well as with those posted on the forum. I kept explaining to the service manager that I had different knowledge base than him, and may have different information to review.

@ Jorge...you are having the same failure that is common with this transmission. Are you running any synthetics? Make sure you take the car in for service work, and make sure you have the gear grind issue written up on your work order. Even if they just simply drive your car and find no problems, at least you have it documented on a work order that you had that complaint. My main problem in getting my problem resolved, was that I never took my car in for problems with gear grind...even though it was happening. Without it being documented, they can't identify how long it has been a problem.

@ everyone...Mazda knows we drive our cars hard. If we didn't, we would be driving Mazda 6's or Mazda 3's. This is a performance car that should be expected to perform in that manner.

Keith: It's a new issue so I'll have to see what they say since it'll be my first time reporting the issue to them.

I'm pretty sure if I tried shifting at 7K right now that it would grind. I guess I'll try to get it to grind a few times on the way to the dealership (UGH, I hate the sound of TRYING to get it to grind) to see at exactly what RPM range it's doing it.
Once I figure that out, I'm sure it'll be easy to get the Service Writer in my car to show him the issue.

WOW!!!!
I got my weekends back. But I am not too sure about this new job. I have been there for a week, and I still can't figure out what they really pay me to do. I tagged along with 2 other reps on their routes . . . and they do nothing, All week. Field rep position too. . . so I have to do nothing from 8:30 till 5 M-F , without a boss following me around. Then I turn in an expense report ( that is the only thing anybody has tought/told me to do since I got here.)I figure I am gonna stay employed here as long as I can, maybe after time I will be the best rep they have.?!

hey jorge you might want to put your old shifter in, just so they cant say
that your short shifter was causing the problem.
