San Bernardino monthly Mazda meet and drive.
You had me. Those are neat!I didn't know you and Casey were both into RC cars. I've got an older electric Team Associated off road one. It was the base model at the hobby shop and I want to sell it. Maybe I can bring it next meet and you or Casey can tell me how much I should list it for on eBay.
i haven't been to a meet in forever. i'm not going to be able to make it to july's meet cuz it's my mom's b-day party that we've got planned out already. but i'll definately go down to meet you guys up for august!
i'll help tear the roads up in my FWD v6 accord! w00h000!!!!

i noticed a funny thing with my car today...
after shutting off the engine, there is a buzzing sound coming from the rear axel- seems louder near the rear right wheel. then after it buzzes for about 2 or 3 minutes, the car makes a single loud "hiss" sound- ie like air being let out of a tire or something.
any ideas what this might be? it's almost like my car has to burp itself after the engine is turned off. very weird.

Jake. I still have, and am wiling to part with:
both opals, though one of them has been used and does have a couple battle scars, nothing major though.
the bright orange stratus, same thing with the battle scares.
obviously these three have been mounted.
and the metal flake 3rd gen, its brand new. not even mounting holes rilled into it.
thats about it, that leaves me with the Ari Yallon 3rd gen, the yellow RX-8, and Michelles butterfly body, all three of which I will never get rid of.
I do also have 5 clear bodies, I dont have them in front of me, but I remember seeing an RX-8, a Mazda 6, a Subie, and ....... I dont remember the other 2.

I assume it was pushing the fuel forward towards to the other fuel pump, but that one in the back always made noise.
Don't know if our cars have something similiar, but I've never heard any noises like that.

If you're starting from scratch, you'll need all the parts including a charger and a controller.
I recently bought an R/C Plane, and that's when I found out how much is actually involved in these things.
You'd probably want to buy a car that is RTR (ready to race).
They come complete out of the box.
Cheapest I've seen for an Associated kit is $231 (nevermind that price, I saw some cheaper ones, you just have to look harder)

There are several between $180-250 that are also RTR. I searched on their site for HPI RTR and Associated RTR.
Of course, you also need to pay attention to the size. I think Casey and Jake have 1/10 scale.
The resident RC pro's might have a better suggestion for a place to buy from, but my
neighbor works at HobbyPeople and he got me a pretty good discount on my stuff.

I have 2 electric and 4 gas right now.
Both electrics are 1/10 scale
The Nitros are 1/12, 1/10, and 1/8
I always recommend people starting with electric. They are easier to mantain and will allow you to enjoy the hobby more. However, I like tinkering with them, so the nitro cars are more fun for me.
Electric is actually faster with the right set up (electric motor are at full torque instantly)
Electric is easier to handle
Electric is less mantainence
Gas is gas. It is a tiny motor. Therefore gas wins
Good elec. car = $300
Good charger = $100
Batteries x2 = $250
------------------------------
Total = $650
Good gas car = $400
Gallon of gas x4 = $70
--------------------------
Total = $470
For a bunch of fun though - Look up the AE (Associated) RC18T. It is a 1/18 scale that can be found RTR, including radio and 1 battery, for well under $150. There is HUGE aftermarket support for them and they can be made REALLY fast. Mine was clocked at 62mph before I sold it.
