San Bernardino monthly Mazda meet and drive.
So the MR2 crew went out for a cruise today and met up with some black ice.
I missed the car in front of me by 3 inches, every car was sliding in different directions.
But the one that got the worst of it is our random picture of the day

Is that repairable since the engine is in the back, or was it too much damage?

Major snow dump last night and today.
The Cajon pass is closed this morning because of snow.
You should be able to get your snowboarding in this weekend Lesper.

My boss in on vacation for 2 weeks.
In Cabo. I just looked up the weather there.
93 and Sunny.
Man that was good planning on his part.
I like rain, but only if I get to stay home. Don't really care to drive in it, and worry
about other people making mistakes.

as for my car, here's the story:
- Spent all day at xdeedubbx's place "un-modding" his car and when I left there last night, the car was making a strange clicking noise. I'd heard it in the morning when I left my house but didn't think much of it. Figured it was a belt or somethign that I could look at later.
NgoRX8, xdeddubbx, and I popped the hood and sure enough the noise was coming from the general direction of the belts.
I got inside the car and noticed that the Battery light was illuminated. That typically means your battery is going or your alternator is out.
I figured I could make it home running on the battery, nope that wasn't the case!
As I was driving home, I plugged in my AccessPORT to watch the battery voltage and sure enough, it was low. As I left LA, it was already in the 11.3 range, and as I kept going it was getting lower and lower.
At 10 volts, my radar detector powered itself down, at 9 volts the DSC / TC went, and at that point I figured I should pull over. As I was getting off the freeway, the power steering went and the center display was right behind it. I was running at only about 8.4 volts at this point and it just wasn't worth having the car stall on the freeway or causing damage to the PCM so I called the tow truck.
I'll charge the battery tonight to make sure it's functioning properly and then I'll most likely order an Alternator. Of course, this had to happen 2,000 miles after my warranty expired on my car...

Jorge - Glad to hear it is something simple, well maybe not simple, but not major.
How long will it be down for?
The 243.
Anyone remember the snow plow that almost got us when we were all parked at the turn out? It was right there.
The car is gone, but the engine is still fine.
Engine was a third gen liquid intercooled 3s that dynoed last week at 233hp
This was the car a little ahead of us. I couldn't get a good picture because it was about 25-30 feet down the hill

was too tired last night to take a very close look. The belt was still there, that much I know.
"un-modding" xdeedubbx's car was a lot of work yesterday. I'm sore and my hands are all cut up. Maybe I'll ask Santa for some Mechanic Gloves for x-mas.
guys; thoughts on this battery charger: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...s+%26+Boosters

It also test your alternator.
Although, you can always test your alternator the old fashion way.
Start the car and disconnect the battery.
It the car dies, bad alternator.
Although, the fact that your car was running, and slowly draining the battery, and then it finally died, it's obviously the alternator.
Yeah, the 125 amp is kinnda a nice feature. I could start the Explorer, the Tacoma, or my 8 without breaking a sweat on that thing.
I think I'll go to Sears and pick it up after work. Yeah, it's a $100 but it should last a while and I'm sure it'll come in handy.
Cesar: still got your SD card sitting on my desk collectin' dust. See my prior post about it?
You Could Always Do The Screwdriver Behind The Alternator To See If It Pulls It In, If It Does Then You Have A Good One, If Not Then You Have A Bad One. If You Have A Good Alternator But Ur Battery Is Getting Drained Then U Have A Bad Ground Somewhere.
