Because the ****'s whole strategy was about the leaders selecting where you live, work, and what you have and don't have.
In other words, they decide what you get.
They made everyone equal. They eliminated free thinking. Freedom of choice.
And, eliminated the opportunity to advance because they locked you down into a certain social and political position including your job.
In **** terms, your phone, is the same as my phone, and I can't improve on it because it will make your phone inferior, and we will no longer be equal.

Not only are the new phones not working, but it broke so badly, the 1st iPhone's got screwed too.

well, if i don't show up to the meet tomorrow, it's probably cuz i went to get an iphone... but, i still haven't decided yet whether i want to pay that much. :P

the thing that surprises me is that it's really not a cheap gadget. when u factor in $300 for the phone and about $80/ month, how do all these high school kids afford it?

I've often wondered the same thing.
Even something as simple an mp3 player. Those aren't cheap either, but just about every kid I see has them.
The big kicker is, I remember having lunch at a sandwich shop about 4yrs ago in Riverside.
A group of skaters came in to buy food. The oldest was probably 14 or 15.
They had a HD video camera, and they were going over some of the stuff they had done earlier.

An HD camera back then was about $1500-2500.
That's some crazy toy money for kids.

How about all the "kids" too young to drink, but they drive RX8's.

when i was a kid, i was never allowed to have anything like video game consoles or anything expensive etc. but, my parents' generation had it a million times worse. my parents grew up during WW2 & the chinese civil war. daily air raids and running into bomb shelters to evade japanese bombings were part of their every day routines.

kids in the u.s. nowadays have it so easy.
