in an effort to get the numbers as close to 8" as I could, I had to remove the Mazdaspeed.
sorry.

Jasons, how did the event in SD this weekend (3/19/06) go? Rain?

Speed, finally figured out what was happening with my Cal Club account through talking with the webmaster. Come to realize that they mispelled my name on my Cal Club Card, and that they started an account for me under that mispelling. Given that I had started my own account weeks before getting the card...I kept checking this account, instead of the one they started under the mispelled name. Anyways, thing should have been fixed this morning and I'll have to check tonight.

SD event was ok. Seemed kinda boring after doing the pro solo last weekend.

No rain in the morning Sunday, but there were some clouds moving in when I left at 10:30. Isleys didn't make it, think they were out of town on vacation.

It's looking like I probaby won't be at the CalClub event this weekend. My club down here is planning a private practice with a ton of runs available... hard to resist that.

We'll miss you, but there seems to be a lot of events back to back...isn't the next SD event the 1st/2nd of April? I hope to get Speed to go down there with me.

Speed, I was able to register for the 26th. Did you have to pay online, or do we just pay there?

No you just pay down there. I think that they just have enough trust in the people that pre register.... as you can tell they dont really have to worry about NOT filling up.

Jasons, as Keiths said we will miss you guys tehre, but we understand lots of fun runs are hard to resist.

Keith, I got your other SD number plate done(you already know this), I should be doing your CSCC pates tonight.

Did you see that we dont run anyware near each other again on sunday?

Toca, you running with us on Sunday?

all, I am going to try and go get the alignment I never got some tiomes this week/Saturday. Kinda want to get it before Sunday.

Yes we missed the SD event last weekend as we were on the vacation to hell. It was a work trip for my wife, company year end party at a kick *** resort in Orlando. I thought I was going to sit around the place all weekend until I saw that Sebring FL was only an hour drive, oh yeah World Challenge race fri 12 hours of Sebring ALMS race sat. Cool a short drive and I get a race filled weekend. Oh yeah that was till I got sick Thurs. Not only did I not get to go to the races I only left our room for an hour the whole time we were there.
Then we get to the airport at 5:00am sun only to have our flight delayed till 10:30am which meant we missed all the connecting flight to OC. We did get lucky and catch a flight into SD and got the mother inlaw to drive down and pick us up. We drove by the Q event, saw a gray RX8 running but no mp5.
I am not in any clubs in SD so I dont think I got the invite to the private practice, so I should be at cal club.

Sorry that your trip sucked... the Sebring races were pretty good too.

We ran 2nd group, worked 1st so I was able to get outta there at 10:30am which was pretty nice. The grey rx8 may have been running X by the time you were there. I think it was Kyle, who has run before. Only had a chance to talk to him for like 10 seconds in grid since they were rushing us through.

Depending on how many people we get for the SCNAX practice, there might be more room for "guests". It's a last minute informal thing so I'm not sure yet.

he wouldn't even have to show up and he'd kick my butt. His reputation is faster than my car

Sent my apllication (by email) to the Mazdaspeed program. The site says expect up to two weeks. If they let me in, I know the first purchase will be new OEM pads.

hey thats not nice.... your laughing histaricly after saying "make us proud"........ makes me want to cry.

getting my alignment tomorrow.

I think I am going to go with 1.5 front, 1.5 rear. 1/16 - 1/8 front tow, and 0 rear tow.

Sounds good, wish I could get -1.5 front.

mostly a better person.

he he

the 1.5 I spoke of (accually -1.5 is what I will have) is the number of degrees the tire sits compared to the ground/car.

0 degrees means the tire is sitting dtreight up and down or perpendicular to the ground. this is best for tire wear on daily driving, but when you are in a turn the tire will roll over onto the outer edge of the tire.

by setting the tire in or giving it negative camber you are wearing out the inside of the tire when driving down the road, but when you enter a turn rather then rolling onto the outer edge, you are rolling onto the ENTIRE tire. this gives you the MOST amount of rubber on the ground in a turn. of course you dont want to go TO far or else you will not even roll over far enough to get the full 100%. A tire temp gauge will help you determin wheather or not you are using the entire tire. (by taking temps when you come in.) if the out side of the tire is hotter, you are still rolling over to far, if the inside is to hot, you are not rolling over enough. if the center is the hottest you have to much air pressure, if the outside edges are to hot you are running to low air pressure... you get the hint. nice even temp accross the tire are the ones you want to see.

if you were drag racing you would want the tires at 0 degrees so that you would have 100% of the tire on the ground in a streight line.... well to be more technical, you would want them cambered OUT a little so that when the car squats it becomes level (or 0 degrees)

as for the tow. this is how the two front (front tow) tires sit in relationship to them selvs. towed in means they are accually pointing towrds each other a little bit, towed out mean they are pointed away from each other.

being towed in they get better tire wear, (how I have no Idea, just what the alignment guy told me.... dont see how that is possible though. I am new to this whole towed in thing. being around race cars I didnt even know you wanted your car towed in on the street..... hmmmmmmm) towed out you have better stability, even more so at high speeds. (this is why we ran tow out on my dads race car.) but towed out will severly wear tires just like camber. even the tire guy at the alignment shop yesterday was like "damn, you plan on buying street tires a lit huh?... -1.5 ~ - 1.75 degrees, AND towed out, dont expect them to last long." I said "I already know" this is why I am not going with more like -2 or more. because it is STILL a street car.

that is pretty much what you need to know for now. those are the two basics.
there is a lot more to it then that like center of gravity, caster, roll centers, weight distribution, tow out in turn, bump steer... ect. but some of that is getting pretty advanced. on a street car camber tow and center of gravity are proly the ones you will be concerned with.

on the race car we would spend a n entire night getting the car setup just right. (thursday nights) with a circle track car you have even more adjustmens like corner wieghts, cross weights, left side weight, rear weight, stager, air pressure (we ran nitrogen), differant tires for each side, pininon angles, panhard angles, rear steer, shocks, spring rates, spoiler angles..... loads of fun! all these working together make a car turn left like you wouldent belive!

It is amazing how differant you would set up a car for a road course, cirlce track, drag, auto cross, rally, street...... the adjustments are endless (at least on a race car that has those adjusments, street cars are rather limited, but for a good reason, you dont need all those adjustments when you are trying to save tires, and trying to make the car drivable. not to mention 99% of street cars are exactly that.... street cars. only us wierdos accually have fun and take them tothe track.)

I'm sure you will make us proud... not sure 'bout Keith though.

Actually, the real reason I'm not coming this weekend is 'cause I'm scared you might beat me.

If we really want to have fun, we should all disconnect our sway bars and see who wins.

he he he!!!! that was funny. got the first smile of the day from me, on a feel like crap day. still debating if I should go home or not. supposed to go get the slignment today though..... guess I could still get it done on my own time.

could you imagine how funny it would be if we were all running spare tires all the way around!? it would be like driving on Ice. he he he.

what did the car do without a sway bar? how did it react.

They have about 15 spots left in this... Did I mention Kumho will be giving away a FREE set of tires, how about a 1 in 60 chance at FREE tires. Discount tire gave away some gift cert last year as well. Most the vendors bring some kind of give away.
