Next one isn't for a while since there are a couple of national events coming up. It's on March 26. Check out the website for the schedule: http://www.solo2.com/calendar.asp

If any of you guys ever manage to make it down to a San Diego event fyi they have a DB limit for sound. My car hit 88.9db @ 50' this weekend, well under the 93db limit. They check every car. However some of you do have loud cars and you know who you are. If you go over the limit and do not have parts to make a change that results in a lower DB you are done.

Cal Club has a 95 db @ 50' limit. However they only get out the meter if someone is very loud.

yah, and your pretty loud....so I know I don't have to worry. You know I've already made comments about how your car sounds compared to the others in B-stock..at least from my position working the field as you pass by me. I'm sure we'll all be fine.

Wondering, did they actually keep anyone out...and when do they do this measuring, at tech?

They check while you are on course.... One RX7 that always has problems was kicked out after his first run, hit 100.1 and they don't even let you try to fix it if you are that high.

You know if you put your cat back on you would be well within the DB limit and you could run in STU rather than BSP....

BTW now that you have the MazdaSpeed front you can no longer run BSP, moves you to SM. Again if you put the cat back on you would be legal for STU.

Conversion

Like I said, I run auto cross for personal improvement. I don't really care what place I get in my class. I just want to see how I do with cars that are modded like mine. Plus, I won't let auto cross tell me how to modify my ride for canyon racing or daily driving. Auto cross is fun for me, but my Sprint car racing is my serious racing. I'll do auto cross on my weeks off of my real racing.

How'd I do Toca?

Ok, I'm going to try this one as well. (Its kinda fun since I don't have anything else to do now in the evenings)

Yes, That's why I haven't gone to San Diego. I'm a lot louder than you, so I won't pass. I'll stick with the events at California Speedway, because there is a car louder than me there.

he he he, Yeah English class blew. I hated that class. that and history.
I liked Math and Science..... and Auto Shop.

Kwescott..... you missed out on some pretty serious painting man. he he he. looks good though.

Jasons, glad to see you had a good time. didnt STU run first that day? I thought I heard that it did.????

hey Jason M. for the last couple weeks I have been noticing my car making a clunking noise when I hit bumps. Saturday it got WAY worse. like clucking just driving down the street. got under the car, the right sway bar bracket was loose, and the Left sway bar end link was very loose. WTF is wrong with the sway bars??? going to use lock tight if it does it again.

I know you not trying to say autox is not real racing..... Ever heard of Cunningham, Pobst, Altenberg, Hienrecy.... All top pro road racers and past autox natl champions. Last year my buddy Dave, 3 time autox champ decided to go road racing. They tried to talk $hit to him about being an autoxer..... Well then he set new track records in T2 are four tracks, won the Sopac championship and sat on the Pole for the run-offs. This year he has a full ride and two cars to race.

Its fun to watch road racers come autox cross for the first time, they make fools of themselves. Paul Bonnacorsi, World Challenge racer, took up autox a few years ago and he was slow. Now after a few years he figured it out.

Now you want to talk about a joke, figure skating in cars aka drifiting. Being a dirt guy that might be up your alley.

Im just jerking his chain.... Its all for fun. True story catch any of Randy Pobst post race interviews from GrandAm Cup, World Challenge, ALMS and he is always talking about autox and how he learned to drive there. He also writes a story for SportsCar mag every month. From time to time some of these guys still come to the Solo Natl championships and run for fun. TC Kline who owns a Grand AM cup team comes and runs with us every year. The guys that own TriPoint Motosports World Challenge team are autoxers and even run some of the local cal club autox events in there RX8. Its cool that the big guys remember where they came from.

yeah, I have heard that Auto X can be some of the toughest competition in racing.

ULLOSE, I dont think Toca was saying Auto Crossing is not real Racing, but rather that he takes is sprint car a lot more seriously then he does auto cross as his RX-8 is his daily driver and NOT a race car. he is not going to let auto cross tell him what he will and will not do with the mods he makes to his car. this is kinda how I feel about my race car (that does not race yet ) and my RX-8. the RX8 is fun but not a race car, although I do enjoy racing it at the auto cross track. ( boy that contredics its self huh? )

I to do not find drifting to be a racing sport.... as it is NOT RACING. any judged event is not a race. but I have to admit when you watch the pros in person, they do make for a good show!.... still not racing though.

I am with you on that. My dad used to race but stoped a couple years back. we used to run with some pretty good drivers that would move up to the pros. it was fun when they would come run with us again.... it is nice to see that some of the top dogs remember what they used to drive. I will se if I can dig up a didgi picture of the race car.

I didn't know Pobst was an ex-autoxer. Cool stuff. His column in SportsCar is always enjoyable... and he drives a Mazda too.
