Yes, and maybe arrange a member trade. Me for one of the SoCal people (Wing5 seems like a perfect candidate).

lol I do the photography for the LAX meet (see West Forum sticky) which is at night so I do a lot of what you want to "practice" more of. Here's my thread from Dec. Your wildlife shot was awesome and you said you know a lot about lighting and all so you shouldn't be far off. Tripods are your friends ^.^
....basically just looking to help out another picture fiend

Im using a Canon 30D. I used a Tridpod with the car shots but hand held with the people shots. I tried using Flash in the restaraunt but they wernt coming out so well. I have Photoshop CS2 as well. I do pretty good with normal day light shots or night time shots when the objects are stationary. Its just shooting people at night and using flash is what I need work on. Your pics look pretty good. Looks like you guys have some great turn outs.

Here are a couple more Normal Shots. Sports, Wildlife etc.

SlipnSlide, you take some awesome shots man. I love the pan shot of the owl. I'm glad you are a Canon user and are you on any photography forums ?

Damn, haven't been to any meets in a LONG time let alone this forum. I need to come to one of these if I have time.

The admin banned me for killing a cat and in turn runing my MS front bumper.

Seriously though, I just put it there for ***** and giggles I suppose since I couldn't come up with anything creative to put there.
Btw, are you on fredmiranda.com or that norcal group that a member started over there ? If so, I'm on that forum as well. I also checked out the 4 other pics you posted and the macros are stunning. I love the bokeh on your shots too. Are upi using the MP-65 lens for those shots or a reverse macro and some huge telephoto for your wildlife shots?

Jon, long time no see man. I will try to make it to UC but it will be hard for me. :\

I used the MP-65mm 5x macro. I have sold it already but it is the best macro lens ever. I will get it again if I get back into macro. I normally shoot wild life with a 300mm F4L IS, or my 500mm F4.5L. I am on Fredmiranda as well as a local camera club www.soocool.com

You can do a lot with your point and shoot. in low light situations like taking photos of cars at night, you need a tripod and enstead of pushing to button to take the photo use the timer. That way you wont vibrate the camera with the push of the button. Low light means slow shutter to allow more light into the camera. When you use the timer it will be less likely to move when the photo is taken which will give you nice sharp photos.
