Performance from any of the current exhausts availbe for the 8 are really all about the same. HP gains are minnimal if any on some of those exhausts. To be honest, just go with the one that sounds and looks the best to YOU.
Not to keep beating a dead horse but when you priced it out, did you have:
- Revi Intake
-Revi Air Duct
-RB Exhaust
-All 3?

thanks jun. my app'ts on thursday, so i'll let everyone know how it goes. speaking of which, a friend of mine just bought a silver 1997 993 S auto teptronic yesterday w/ about $45k miles on it. i went over for a look see, and it's in really good condition. i haven't gotten a chance to test drive it yet- not sure that i'll get a chance- but, it looks like a fun car. just a bit too pricey for me... :P

February-Memorial Cruise for Guitar Junkie
Some pics from the run. Most fo those who said they would made it, did....but it could have been a larger turnout. I think it was very nice for the family to see all those who showed up. I know it meant a lot to me to see people at my dad's funeral, and to hear stories from those I barely knew, stories about my dad that I would have never known.

my plan is to sell(or part out) and use the money to get out of being $6000 upside down on my protege, then use some to pay the down payment on a new rx8 and the remainder will be for a few small mods....we shall see

wow jessie....I had a feeling it was going to come to this...with guitar junkie and everything. You will not have as muhc fun in an 8.....but you'll definately enjoy the "reliability" that you probably would never have with the 7.
The car is beautifil, and you will kick yourself for the rest of your life when you sell it. You sold Amber's 7 as well....is this something you guys both agreed on doing.....???? I just can't see her trying to talk you out of the car....

Sucks you gotta get rid of it. But the 8 is a little better for a family. Four doors and all . ..
I hope a rotary nut picks it up, someone who can truely appreciate it.
Funny . . . Vipers engine is my desktop picture on my computer at work.

Jesse and I had a decent talk about it ( I am guessing this is why he made his mind)
There are several reasons for his decission. I think he feels the same way about his seven as I did mine. (at least to a point) he did the build, got close, then was let down big time. I of corse spent 3 years trying to fix it, he is not wiling to wait as long. he said he was either going to fix it (by having someone fix it), or sell it. (smart man for not waisting 3 years on it like I did. I dont regret selling my car at all... for my own reasons.)
I have told him several times my point of view on his car. It is one of the best looking RX-7's (at least second gens) I have ever seen. and he should be proud of that. but there are many flaws in my eyes with that car.
one being that we live in California and there isnt one thing about that car that is California street legal. that means every time that car touches the road he is looking in his mirror for the lights pulling him over. I have been there and it is not a great feeling (and I didnt have 1/10 the money he has into his) if he were to get pulled over the car would get impounded right then and there. If we lived in another state I would have zero argument in keeping the seven... in fact I wouldent even be on the RX-8 forums myself as I know I would still have a seven myself.
which means the car should be mostly a track car. problem is the car was not built for the sole reason of track use. there are a few things about it that would need to be changed (not to mention this is not really what he wanted. he wanted a wicked street car). also if he were to race it (I think he was interested in auto crossing with us,) the class he would be in would be BP (I think) and he would be severly out classed.
also as a driver he really cant compare him to us being as we are in differant cars entirely. if he were in an RX-8 at least he would know exaclty where he stands, and it would be more fun (this was comming from him)
another problem with a track only car is that it has to be towed.... he does not have a truck or a trailer... again he wanted a wicked street car not a track car. in California that is impossible to do and be legal. (even though there are a LOT of people out there that are driving wicked street cars, they have made the choice to take that chance.)
now on the RX-8 side, I know he loves the looks of them, he loves the interior, he loves the reliability, he loves the fact that they make great auto cross cars, he loves that fact that once he did all the stuff keith and I have, he would be in the same class as us..... the down sides are cost, and lack of potential H.P. with the RENESIS. (although I think once he starts auto crossing, he wont care as much about the lack of H.P. as he will be focused on the handling.)
now dont go thinking I am the one who talked him into selling his car, I gave him my oppinion on both sides of the argument. I understand that the FC is his baby, and I understand what it took to do that build. it is not an easy decission. (belive me). but he was the one that was trying to convince me he should do it.... not the other way around.
oh yeah, and now that dave is gone that is one more strike on the getting rid of the car side. (we have talked about this before and after dave had died.)
anyways, congrats Jesse for making a decission, that is half the battle right there. I know its not an easy one to make. I think you would be happy either way, so whatever your decission was I was going to be happy for you. just keep in mind if you do get the RX-8 it is a differant world.
the RX-8 is MUCH more refined. makes you feel kinda classy and rich. (he he he) the cost of parts are expensive, and they dont do a whole lot. you will get a little more repect from the RX-8 guys, the older crowd AND COPS!. to most of the seven guys you will get a little less respect as "it's just an 8". you will love the fact that you dont smell like an RX-7 after driving it. (although I find myself missing that smell from time to time ) you will also enjoy the fact that you own a car that not any high school kid can have (unless mommy and daddy bought it). you will love the 6 speed trans, and the back seats.
anyways, I am done blabing now. as you can tell I am just waiting for the day to be over.

"the cost of parts are expensive, and they dont do a whole lot" ain't that the truth.
"even though there are a LOT of people out there that are driving wicked street cars, they have made the choice to take that chance" really? what abotu all those new Z's they arent street legel, there has to be a way to make a wicked fast street legal ride, but then again they arent rotary which has the power but no reliaialbity.

thanks everyone... yeah, this is/was a VERY hard decision for me to make.... i still have alot of work to do.. i have to fix all the fire damage really fast... and i wont half *** it either.. i want it done right so the next owner doesnt have the same problem.... and i dont figure it will sell too quick concidering the cost.... but it is income tax season.. so we will see....
and i wouldnt be selling the car unless i knew i was getting an 8.... i still need to be in the croud..and have a rotary... it will be that way the rest of my life.... i figure that everytime im driving my rx8, ill feel a little better about selling my baby!
i do still have 1 fc other than my orange one.. i have an 88 gxl.... its an auto, but its very clean.... i wont sell it too soon just in case i decide to keep it for a fun putt around car...
and everything casey said is dead on... so i dont have much to add to it thanks casey
oh, and keith... yeah, amber understands my reasoning behind it, but she is standing by me... she is kinda just staying in the sidelines letting me do what i feel is right.... but she always says that ill regret selling my baby.. which i probubly will

Jessie, I could tell by our conversation @ lunch that this announcement was incoming but I didn't expect it so soon. On one side, I'm saddened to see the car go because I know how much it meant to you; heck, I remember seeing you pull up to the Tattoo Shop back when that thing was still Flat black !
On the other side: you still have one FC and this will open up a door to a new rotary experience for you...the RX-8 is truly an amazing machine.

haha!!! I was wondering who would notice that first! Lesper gets 10 points.
You guys are missing out on ALL THE FUN!!! Today is "International Jackatar Day". You basically get to steal someone's avatar and pretend to be them for the day...
Here's the thread about it, it's HONESTLY the FUNNIEST thread I've seen on here in a LONG time!

Hmm, now whose avatar to steal next....
