Hello Socal RX8 club members. I know that is kind of last minute deal. But if you want to learn the proper techniques on how to make you car shine, Meguiar’s is offering an FREE detailing 101 class for their members at Meguiar’s online forum (www.meguiarsonline.com). The class is being instructed by Mike Phillips and if you frequent www.autopia.org you will know who he is in the detailing world. A lot of people here are Zaino fan which is fine, but again the knowledge you will get will still apply regardless of what you use on your car. I already have attended three times.
You might think is a sales pitch. To answer this, is Yes and No. Yes because the fact that is a company sponsor event and of course they want to use their products. And NO because you are not required to buy anything at the end of the day; nor no one is going to call you trying to sell anything later on. The last two detailing classes I attended (last one on the 15th); I didn’t order anything. At the end of the day you will get a free goodies bag with some product samples like a full size bottle of NXT speed detailer, a MF towel, and other goodies.
In any case, if you go you will have free drinks, coffee, pastries in the morning and really good pizzas for lunch. The only thing you have to do is to register and sign up. Its ok if you only register and never post. Most of the people does that.
If you want to have your car to be considered for their hands-on training section in the afternoon, they preferably want a reasonable washed black or dark colored car; to capture better the paint defects and in general they don’t want to wash the car there because of safety reasons.
Anyways, if you are free on this Saturday from 8:30 am to about 2:30 pm this is a nice event to go. Here is the email from Mike (note on the second link, you will see is my baby next to the Prius, hehehe)

Mike,
Glad that you were able to make it despite the short notice. I am trying to see if I can schedule a dedicated detailing class for the fellow RX8 club members sometime the beginning of next year. If other long distance members can make it to Irvine, that would be great. Believe it or not, there are people who flown in as far as Malaysia an UK.
When that time comes, I hope to count on your testimony to encourage other member to attend.
