funny thing is that I'm considering painting them in time attack theme but I want to get me some different tires. for some reason those tires look skinny for a 265.

ack! sorry to vent again... looks like i cracked my rear, lower bumper 'cuz i misjudged the slope of a driveway and got nicked on the way out. (there's now a hole the size of a lemon next to my right exhaust pipe now- on the non-painted part of the bumper, cuz i think it scrapped at an angle) >

<sigh> well, i knew something bad would happen right after i fixed my windows. and, i just made an app't to get my moonroof glass changed this friday too! do any of u know how much that plastic, non-painted lower bumper piece costs?

man, this curse is getting expensive...

Are you talking about the exhaust shrouds? If so they usually go for $50 for used ones.

I took off my bumper to see if I got anyother damage and both of my fender liners are cracked which sucks but I'll prob just leave it alone. Getting tired of spending so much money on my car...been spending alot of money on clothes and stuff now.

hey jun. sorry to hear about your fenders. are u referring to the black plastic undersides that are flush against the front fender well? as long as they're not flapping around, i think u should be ok to leave them. i noticed when installing my nose mask that those pieces are rather thin.

well, i'm not sure what they're called (exhaust shrouds)... but it's that dark gray & the lowest section of the bumper where the exhausts go through. from the looks of it, it's one piece though... and, the rotary accent also is part of it. is that entire piece really only $50? that can't include the rotary accent tho i'm guessing?

i'll call galpin tomorrow and see if they can add that to my bill when i get my moonroof replaced. not sure if they'll send me to a body shop though.

oh yah. i tried polishing my cars a little today. most of the spots on the bmw came out- since i hadn't used mr. clean on it as much. and, the glass place gave me a bottle of this stuff called spray away that worked pretty nicely. the 8 has some pretty stubborn spots tho. it's slowly getting better. but, they're not the kind that just come out in one session i guess.

Detrich: take a pic of the part you need fixed. I'm thinking it's the exhaust shrouds. you can probably pick those up much cheaper from someone on the forum.

If your talking about the center portion of the bumper where the rotary accent is then I'm afraid you'll need to buy the whole rear bumper as its a part of the painted portion but if its just the exhaust shrouds then you can pick those up pretty cheap.

0r if you broke the part where the rotoray accent goes, you can just get the Mazdaspeed since it replaces that part of the bumper.

ah, ok- yah, the part i broke is the right exhaust shroud i guess. thanks guys i was so worried that i'd just put another grand worth of damage on my poor car...

hey jun, i also have another detailing question for u. i tried to polish out the dust scratches that the auto glass place made on my trunk. they look light, but, apparently- they don't come out so easily. i polished the trunk multiple passes using the method u taught me, and it's shiny now. but, they are still there. <lol>

what am i doing wrong? sorry for being such a newbie. and, thanks in advance for ur help and wisdom

p.s. i've been thinking some more.. and i'm remembering the body shop wet sanding my hood to fix the rock chips and making some really horrific scratches. but all those buffed out with the 3m stuff. (of course they left a lot of track marks as well.) but, for these type of hairline scratchess, should i be using the 3m rubbing compound and 3m finishing glaze and then finishing w/ the sfx-1, paintwork, and wax?

The 3m rubbing compound is slightly more aggressive than the sfx-1 but when you use it you only need a few drops may be 4 drops as a little goes along way with compounds. Make sure to follow it up with sfx-1 and then paintwork cleanser. I'm free this sat morning, so if you want to have a detail day I would love to come down and tackle your car.

ok, i've decided that i'm just going to postpone my app't til this monday. it's just safer to have them work on the car when it's dry, because i don't need them accidentally scratching up my roof while drying it off...

odd how the RX8 has too much front wheel well gap...and the 350 has too much rear fender gap....which springs are you looking at for your drop?

for rwd cars isnt' there a tendency for the front tires to lift up a bit? i think mazda has the right idea on the 8

that said- great pix rick. your car looks really nice w/ the new rims. speaking of which, did we ever decide if the bbq is on the base or at the park?

The RX-8 front fender is bigger than the rear. So it looks like is lifted from the front. The Z just sits lower in the front.
Nobody has PM'd me their names or anything. So I'm guessing is a no go.

hmm... well, i think it might be easier off the base- only because if people decide to bring friends last minute they can tag along. either Neptune's or a park is ok w/ me- since u guys mentioned it's not crowded on Sundays

Well I wouldn't mind doing the BBQ but my friends wants to go shopping after the cruz so...also I think it might be too much of a hassle to go on base. Another option we could do is we could have the cruz on sat and have lunch at dukes since they can do large party reservations on sat. Whatever you guys want to do I'm down.
