That sucks. Anyway, i was thinking about filling it up with some polyurethane or something (much cheaper than paying to put new ones). Does anyone ever tried this before? Did it solve the vibration issues? Let me know, so that i could plan on getting it fixed. Thanks.

i looked like it was coming from the midpipe

so i endup running the car with no coolant or water on the radiator, hoses, coolant bottle and i think that i overheated, there was smoke coming from the exaust, air conditioning, under the car, and the engine, also there was this smell like something just burned

i don't think that i can get it rebuild under the warranty at any mazda dealerships in vegas, also i got royal purple and mazsport ingnition, might have to change to try the warranty right?

also the smell was pretty bad and few hours after the engine stop i could steel smell it

when is erick coming by with your 8? i might ask him how much he would like to take a look at my car and then see what are the options
Erick told me he is coming back on the 2nd but I have not yet heard from him to confirm. I does not sound good for your engine. I doubt they will even notice the oil. The coils are easily changed back to stock (they have no problem with BHR coils but I don't know about the ones you have)

Several peeps have tried refilling the motor mounts most with terrible luck. Contact "Olddragger" as he found a good formula for his and he races his 8. As I said earlier, the soft stuff is not good and the really hard stuff is also not very good. Olddragger solved the vibration issue along with all the handling problems.

is erik mazdamaniac?

EDIT: Actually, him and another member of this forum have left a very bad taste in my mouth. I know MM has ties with BHR, and I was planning on getting some stuff from there, I'm sure BHR doesn't condone the actions of MM...or maybe they do. I guess I'll do more research before I drop this money on car parts....not that i could buy from MM because i'm now "perma-banned" from "his" shop. LOL

Edited again for content, seems like rx8club is ban-happy.

Well MM is a minor part of BHR and runs his business separately from BHR. Mazda Maniac's name is Jeff. It is not hard to get into an argument with him. He has no shop so he could not perma-ban you. Jeff's business is selling the Cobb units and tuning. He is one of the top Mazda tuners in the business. He has little input into the BHR brand. Jeff can be an *******.

Erick, Easy_E1, is part of BHR also only more directly involved with BHR. He is also a mechanic and a pretty good one. He is nothing like MM and on occasion will agree with you about Jeff's demeanor. He will also tell you that Jeff can be an *******.

Charles "Ray" Hill is the founder and main reason for BHR to be in existence. I consider Ray and Erick to be among my best friends. They are stand up peeps. If you get into an argument with them, Ray & Erick, then something else is wrong......

I would be interested what happened to get you and Jeff sideways.....PM or post me the link to the thread where it happened.

Its nothing really, I removed my comments from the post. I was hoping BHR did business seperately, to be honest. Anyhow, Basically some guy said from some comments he say jeff make, he wouldnt do business with him. I agree'd from what I read, and have heard from others (waiting ages for a tune, etc), but that I'd have to talk to jeff first, and see if he has all his other issues sorted out before i would consider dropping 600 bucks on his unit. I guess he won't sell me a new unit anyway, which is okay. They're 300 used, and I can tune it myself.

The 8 is totally different from anything done with Ford or 7s. Be very careful of what you do. I have personal knowledge of one "experienced" 8 owner who got mad at Jeff and tried to tune his own. Engine rebuild was the result.

You will need to acquire a Cobb AP and if it is used you will have to be sure that it is "unmarried" from the previous vehicle. If it is not then it is useless. I doubt that MM would not sell you a new one but there are used ones available just be careful what you buy.

If you have past experience with tuning then Jeff's on-line tuning class would set you up and it does not cost very much ($200.00 I think).

Jeff is very opinionated and can be an ******* but he worked with Cobb during the development of the AP and is now the sole distributer. There are only about 4 or 5 guys that seem to be able to tune the AP. Even if you don't like him, he has been one of the leading innovators in the 8s operation for both modding and general use.

Holding anything against BHR because of Jeff does not make sense to me but I can understand that you would try and not support him. All be known, presently none of anything spent with BHR (unless it's for a Cobb AP) goes to Jeff.

I have some bad news for you drifthappens, that wing I was going to give you got thrashed. Not sure how but Mike says that his dad did it. Very sorry if it would not have been for my family problems I would have made it up to Mike's house to pick it up before his dad thrashed it.

I just want my girl tuned already. Not sure Jeff's class is for me because truthfully I am not interested in knowing how to tune. I just want my girl to run great. MM's map services takes way too long, which is the only reason why I haven't jumped on that option.

My AP is married to my car and right now it is making my engine run cooler. That is it. So I am not damaging the engine but I am not getting the most out of it either. I need to figure this out.

That's bad news phil, it's okay though, haha.

I know the 8 is different from ford's and 7's, and until I actually get to play with an AP (and the accompanying software) I wouldnt dare to say i would tune someone else's car (especially for payment). I'm more than willing to take a look at someone's map and see if anything jumps out at me, though.

I asked about the jeff/bhr thing for that specific reason. Jeff just seems like an ***, and while he's the only option for a new AP, i just find it hard to WANT to pay him 600 bucks for something I can get for 300. I know I can be an *** too, so i don't hold it against me that much. What I do, however, hold against him, is that he's an *** AND takes forever to get a map for your car. If I buy an AP from him, I want a map I can use on my car pretty quickly, since, you know, if i'm buying the AP it's because I put a turbo on my car, or something.

I'm not you but if the car is running OK and cooler then a little wait should be acceptable (only my way of thinking). If it were me I would do the things that he needs and turn it in for the map. I am not sure how long it takes today to get the results back but it used to be 2-3 weeks.

All that said, maybe a good option would be to get Rotary Evolution and Drifthappens to go over any current maps to see what they can come up with.

I've got the software and AP. I'd be happy to let you see the map.

Phil, I'll come to terms with using Jeff if need be. I really don't want to tune this **** myself.

My 8 should be back next week so anyone interested can see my map also. Not sure if it will help cuz mine is quite different that most in town.

Chun: I was only letting you know that there was a alternative to dealing directly with MM. Hell I would never tune my own car ether.

I know Phil... and I was hoping the live tune was more of an immediate response as opposed to a teaching session. Having looked into it more, it is something I just not interested in. I want my car tuned and done right, not experimented and tinkered with by someone like me that truthfully doesn't know **** about engines.

If Jeff is truly the only real option then I'll just have to deal. With all the stories or people waiting months for their maps, I don't want to just waste cash and wait around.

Drift, I am stupid busy nowadays but I'll set up a time to with you so you can take a look at the map. If anything maybe you can help me get rid of the CEL from my aftermarket midpipe.

Sure, software was free from Cobb, I have no issue with sharing it. Just need to find the disk image. If I can't you can just contact Cobb and say you purchased a used AP and need the tuning software, that's all I did.

throwing in my 2 cents,

If being timely is an issue I wouldn't in good conscience recommend Rotary Evolution now this is aside from my own nearly 16 month BS, but other local rotories that have apparently slipped into the black hole known as the rotary evolution shop. I up until a couple of months ago spoke highly of the quaility of work from what I had heard but there has been at least one matter I have seen that would not make me feel comfortable.

Of course again those are my 2 cents do with then what you wish
