Everyone of us has a different one. Some make a little more h.p. than others but none over 5hp. Sound is the only difference that you need worry about. Listen to mine and Mikes and I think that Gilbert's has a different one. Mine is the Racing Beat and usually has the deepest throat sound. None of them are cheep. Now the one Ivory is getting is supposed to be for racing but requires a tune, that he can not provide, for any gains He may actually loose hp). They usually sound tinny like a Honda. My guess is that his buddies that drive piston engines convinced him to get it. Each must find out for themselves.

agree, the single hks exhaust was spacifcally design for turbo rx8s thats why they came out with 2 models.one that was dual exhaust (na applications) and one single (for FI 8's).

ivory8, I would be supprised if you gain any hp. I don't really know who recommended the exhaust to you but unless you FI, I would tend to think it will cost you HP not gain you HP. if you want to make a gain with it, you would have to go with a mid-pipe and then you may gain 2-3 hp. Without FI the normal sound you will get will be kinda ricy like a Honda. Midpipes can be purchased with a resinator to keep the sound down so you will not break windows. If will also improve the sound of the single and give it a more rotory sound. Sure wish you'd have asked before jumping. You may be satisfied with it anyway.

well i listened to deedubs sound clips and liked the sound it gave. we'll see what happens but, i hope to god its not like having a tin can strapped to the back of my car. the reason why i chose this 1 is because if i do eventually go FI which would be in a few years i may benefit form getting this exhaust. and also it was only 407 dollars, not as big an investment from the 1100 and up for most of the dual sided exhausts

although i am kind of confused of how i would loose hp. i thought id at least get some kind of bonus for not having the Y that splits to the dual exited exhaust. i thought that since it was just 1 tube that it would have somewhat a better flow with less back pressure? am i wrong?

well if you decide to go FI then you should be fine, i know that lazi has switched his dual hks exhaust as well to the single hks cause he's going FI. lazi's the one that told me he dyno the hks single exhaust on a n/a and gain like 2whp.

good luck!

Well if you get the flash later down the road you will want the exhaust. Don't sell it short, that 5hp feels like more cuz now you can hear it.

good to hear!! you have plenty of time to figure out what to do with your car especially F.I.!! I'll admit i was looking at the HKS single outlet myself too but i don't have any plans for any F.I. down the road!! I just love the way the exaust looks!!

you know how its only a single exhaust, well i know deedub filled up the hole left by the unoccupied with mesh that was spray painted. i looked up his thread where he installed the hks exhaust but couldnt figure out how he attached the mesh to the car. i didnt see any drilling. maybe some kind of adhesive? or bracket of some kind?

I didn't know that was a DIY mod? I could have sworn when mike spoke to lazi over the phone lazi made it sound like this was something that you can actually buy?

Man you guys got pics of my car all dirty

Well. I had a blast at Mikes (like always)
Sorry I could not get your PC up and running Mike I'll take a baseball bat to it I mean I'll wipe out the C drive and install Vistra or XP for ya this coming Wed

FYI for the Vegas guys!!!
SO I WAS ON LVRC N I CAME TO THIS POST .... SO LOOK OUT .....

for all you n/a ricers w/no cat (and forcedinducted foolios)

on the 95 at Charleston to come back to Summerlin after working on the other side of town today. At the top of the on ramp was a bunch of cones and a WHITE cargo truck...as I got closer I noticed that this is one of those mobile smog detection stations that all the Cali guys are talking about. It has a few large pipes that suck in exhaust fumes as cars drive by and has a camera positioned ready to take pictures of the plates of any car that doesn't pass the detection. I'm not sure what this is going to mean for cat-less cars, or how sensitive the mobile sniffer is, but you all should be aware of it.
